| 14.2 -- Training Your Dog: Come, Heel with Halt, and Place --Session Two Place:
1. Have your dog sitting in heel position, 5 feet from the bed.
2. Hold the leash in your left hand 2 feet from the snap. Hold the transmitter and the remainder of your leash in your right hand.
3.With your dog facing the bed, press and hold the stimulation button.
4. Immediately give your dog the command “Place,” AND CONTINUE TO HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN.
TRIPLE CROWN TIPS
Be consistent with the use of your Remote Collar. If your dog fails to come to you, remember to reinforce the command using your Remote Collar the next 3 times you have him come back to you.
5. Immediately release the stimulation button AS SOON AS YOUR DOG BEGINS TO HEAD TOWARDS THE BED.
6. Praise and reward your dog, then stay within 5 feet of the bed. 7. Use your Remote Collar and leash if your dog breaks the command.
8. Perform 5 repetitions, for 20 seconds each.
TRIPLE CROWN TIPS
If your dog stops when the stimulation stops, PRESS AND HOLD THE STIMULATION BUTTON DOWN, REPEAT THE COMMAND PLACE, AND GUIDE HIM ONTO THE BED WITH THE LEASH. IMMEDIATELY RELEASE THE STIMULATION BUTTON AS SOON AS ALL FOUR PAWS ARE ON THE BED. If you find that your dog stops heading towards the place whenever the stimulation stops, practice place as instructed in LESSON 11, until your dog is proficient at this exercise. Press and hold the stimulation button, then give the “Place” command. Release the stimulation button as soon as your dog moves towards the bed. Praise and Reward. If dog stops, press stimulation button and repeat the command. Give leash guidance as needed and release stimulation as soon as all 4 paws are on the bed. |
