26.2 -- Training Your Dog: Evaluation and Place --

Session Two Place:

1. Put your dog bed 10 feet away from your dining table.

2. Using the place command, have your dog go to his bed, and give him his favorite toy.

3. Have your dog remain on his bed, while having your meal.

4.When you are finished eating, release your dog and play with him.

Improving Performance: Take 10 minutes to work on the exercises you feel need improvement from session one.

Always help your dog when he is confused, by using your leash, long line and plenty of praise and reward. As pack animals, dogs will sometimes test your role as a leader. When reinforcing a command with a correction, it is critical that you do so without emotion, then immediately praise and reward your dog for making the right choice.
