27.1 -- Training Your Dog: Evaluation, Place and Place for Greetings --Session One Sit:
1.With your dog in a safe, quiet, and ENCLOSED area, take the leash off your dog. Make sure your dog is wearing his Remote Collar.
2. From the heel position, give your dog the sit command, and then step 6 feet away from him.
3. Maintain this distance while your dog remains sitting for 60 seconds.
4. Return to your dog, then praise and reward him.
5. Release your dog, and then calmly play with him.
Down:
1. From the heel position, give your dog the down command, then step 6 feet away from him.
2. Maintain this distance while your dog remains down for 60 seconds.
3. Return to your dog, and then praise and reward him.
4. Release your dog, and then calmly play with him. Give “Sit” command. Use your remote collar, as needed. Pivot in front and walk 6 feet backwards.
Sit for Greetings:
1.With your dog in heel position, walk up to a person familiar with your dog. This person should be standing approximately 20 feet away before you approach.
2. Come to a halt, and exchange greetings.Your dog should sit quietly.
3. Have your friend calmly pet your dog, for 10 seconds.
4.Walk away from your friend, with your dog in the heel position.
5. Release your dog, and then praise and reward him.
6. Repeat the above sequence. |
