    Installation Instructions:

    Please read all steps before starting. Before you replace the battery, be sure to remove all dirt, water, and debris from the collar.

    Tools Needed: You will need a small Phillips screwdriver and possibly a small flat screwdriver to connect the connectors.


    1. Remove the six screws from the outer edges of the back plate. You should leave the two inner screws in place.



    2. Pry off the back plate.



    3. Disconnect the four-pin and five-pin connectors.



    4. Remove the three screws that secure the battery cover.



    5. Remove the battery cover and the battery. Remember the orientation of the battery. You must install the new battery the same way. After you remove the old battery, contact your local waste disposal department to properly recycle it.



    6. Install the new battery with the connector on the end nearest the Power Button.



    7. Replace the battery cover.



    8. Replace the three screws to secure the battery cover.



    9. Connect the five-pin and four-pin connectors. You may need to use a flat screwdriver to help secure the connectors.



    10. Press the Power Button to test the connections. When properly connected, a tone is emitted and the status LED blinks green. Turn the collar back off before proceeding.



    11. Make sure the gasket located inside the bottom cover is fully seated.



    12. Replace the back plate.



    13. Replace the six screws to secure the back plate. After you install the new battery, charge the collar completely.

    Garmin lion batery for my T5 collar

    Easy to replace - fat fingers are a hinderance though

    Fairly easy to replace the battery on my TT15 collar. I have a very small Phillips screwdriver. 6 screws the back comes off the collar, and three more screws the battery holder comes out. Here fat fingers are a hindrance but really not an issue. Two plugs to disconnect and reconnect and voila, your good for another 5-6 years.

    My dogs collar has stopped holding a charge for the entire day. This could be risky as she spends a good bit of time outside, without supervision. The new battery didn’t show up as charging all of the way. Contacted the sellers and they were helpful. Said to update both the handheld unit and collar. I was apprehensive that this would solve my problem, but sure enough it did. If you can’t remember when you last updated, it’s probably a good idea to do so when you purchase this.

    The Garmin Collar (T15) is again working.
    I am glad the problem was just the battery. The old battery lasted 4 1/2 years.
    Remember: Be very careful with the gasket, when you take the collar apart.
    For the unit to be waterproof, the gasket must go back in exactly as before.
    Warning: If you mess up the gasket. Water will get into the unit. You will then have to buy a new collar.
    I did not have a problem. My hunting buddy did. He bought a new collar (about $300).
    Garmin Alpha 100, and collars are the BEST!
