Family pet. My dogs are very stubborn where traditional collars stimulation just was not enough to get there attention being hounds. With this collar combination I use less stimulation now than my previous collars, due to quicker training results, now that my dogs can respond to the stimulation. They now react to the tone and vibration. I would recommend this unit to anyone with a stubborn dog that does not respond well to other units like the delta units. Which I use on my other dogs that are more sensitive. I use this unit on a large golden blood hound and Bassett hound, and I have a delta for the other golden and Bassett whom are sensitive to stimulation. I highly recommend this unit. And its ease of use for anyone.

Owns 3 dogs. Family pet. Competes. Don't know if you really want my review because this is regarding your customer service department as my dog lost his black pro 550 collar on the second day, and when I called I spoke to a man named Steve, and he had no comment, nor would he even try and help. I called Garmin, and they have replaced the collar, at no help or without any regard from your company. This was purchased because my trainer suggested I spend the $700 for one control for all three of my dogs. I have since learned that she and two other owners have also lost theirs. You can't tell me we are the only three that have had problems; maybe your customer service department is tired of hearing from all the dog owners that have had to replace their collars. I would appreciate some feedback on this issue.

Owns 3 dogs. Hunts. Family pet. Competes. Everything I receive from Gun Dog Supply arrives fast, is exactly as listed, and fits the bill. This system is almost indestructible. I wish Garmin would have kept the TriTronics collars (They were thicker), but that is the only want in this package.

Owns 3 dogs. Family pet. We have had some experience with an e-collar and found it to be very effective. Now we have 3 dogs and decided to go with the Garmin PRO 550. It has been working great and our dogs respond to it very well. The switches can be a bit difficult/tricky to use, but once you understand the functionality and get used to the way it works, it is excellent!

Owns 3 dogs. Family pet. I previously had a Dogtra system for a single dog. This system is simple to use and intuitive. Works on all 3 dogs despite their size difference. Never moved beyond level 1. I love the headlight feature when working the dogs at dawn and dusk.

Owns 4 dogs. Hunts. Family pet. First thing is I wish it had the ability to handle four dogs, but normally I only hunt one to two dogs at a time, so its not that big of deal. The four dog option would be nice for when I have the dogs loose around the camp or truck. The light feature really is nice and easy to use. The hand unit is lightweight and easy to use and programing the collars was very easy. The tone feature is nice and you can hear it from a good distance away. I've recently hunted with it, and I like the sensitivity that is available for the different dogs. I recommend this unit. Hope it lasts like the old Tri-tronics did from years past.

Owns 8 dogs. Hunts. Family pet. Competes. Parts of the chargers are cheaply made and I don't like their system at all. The buckle on one of the collar straps isn't the same as the other two. It is cheaper made.

Owns 5 dogs. Family pet. The Garmin PRO 550 3-dog Combo works well. I'm mostly happy with it, but there a number of improvements that could/should be made on this product.
1) Who ever designed the collars must of been not only left handed, but had absolutely well trained dogs BEFORE they ever tried to use it. The collars buckle on the wrong side (I COULD remove the electronic part and re-string it, I guess, maybe). The buckles are a PAIN IN THE BUTT to get buckled (and in the same hole each time!) and to get the end of the collar thru the keeper. This is ridiculous!! IF My dogs were well trained enough to SIT STILL and hold their NOSES POINTED IN THE AIR for MINUTES at a time while I fumbled with this stupid collar -- then I would never of needed this product to begin with. My dogs are NOT that well trained. I'm out there, chasing them around, while they flop upside down, etc., wondering why I'm strangling them. THESE COLLARS NEED to have the quick snap buckles on them!! Then it would take ONE time, to get the right fit on each dog, and after that, just SNAP IT ON! WHO DESIGNED THESE COLLARS??????
The collar design is my BIGGEST COMPLAINT and I can't believe this design EVER passed and was put into production.
My other complaints are just minor.
2) The red/black/blue dots are HARD TO SEE (on the handheld remote) for OLD eyes, like mine.
3) WHY didn't they design the remote with a Memory -- when it's on RED, it's AUTOMATICALLY set on #3. If I switch to BLUE, it AUTOMATICALLY sets itself on #2, etc., etc. If I am walking all 3 dogs in the pasture and they all 3 take off after a sheep, and don't come back when I call, by the time I SWITCH to black then to #1, for the first dog, then have to switch not only to another color - red for the 2nd dog, but I have to fumble around trying to change the setting to #3, and so on. By the time I do all that (AND AGAIN -- it's VERY HARD to see/read those numbers out in the field!) the dogs have already gotten away with biting and chasing that sheep for quite awhile!
This thing is NOT very intuitive for more than one dog.
I have some other minor complaints, but I won't go in to them here. Some of them are simply because I can't SEE and I can't remember-- I have to physically LOOK (and TRY to SEE) each number, color, etc., EACH time I use it.
After all that griping, tho, I'm pretty happy with this product. It's what I was needing for my dogs. I have 3 large dogs that I walk in the pastures with me every day, and up my driveway (I live on a highway) and I NEED them to MIND me. They are all really good at coming when called (that's mandatory when they are loose in the drive with me) UNLESS they are hot on a rabbit, or a sheep, etc. THAT'S when I need this trainer and it DOES WORK -- assuming I can fumble around and get the right setting for each dog in time. I don't want to fry my soft dog, while letting the hard dog keep on running because he can't FEEL the lower numbers.
I can now, fairly confidently walk all 3 dogs in the pasture with me, around the sheep, and not have to run my self to death to chase them down and correct them for biting sheep. NOW it's a simple matter of Hollering at them, and if they don't mind, then (finding!!! and) pushing a button. They nearly always quit immediately. Sometimes I have to push the button again, and OCCASIONALLY, if they are really in the killing/wolf mode, I will have to turn up another number.
All in all, I RECOMMEND this product, IF you are smart enough to use it HUMANELY. This can/will hurt and terrorize a dog. You have to use common sense and TRAIN your dog, not just punish it.
I'm glad I got this, because as I said, it's made my life MUCH easier. No more running around in circles trying to catch and punish a dog for biting sheep.

Owns 3 dogs. Hunts. Family pet. Let me first say that I owned the Tritronic model for about 5 years prior to purchasing the updated garmin model. The Tri Tronics worked great every day for 5 years. I have 3 dogs and run them a mile or two twice a day. Therefore I do use this daily. The new model switched over to a three-quarter inch collar and the receiver slightly smaller. One of the best functions on the receiver is the extremely bright LED lights. So far have not had a malfunction with the transmitter or receiver over the past 3 months. The downside to this new model is the addition of an extra toggle switch on the transmitter. Now there are 2 tiny toggles that can be difficult to distinguish in the cold wearing gloves. The other switch is in the charging mechanism. To charge the transmitter there are 3 separate attachments to charge, and the receiver there are 2 separate attachments. The charging terminals are much smaller than the old try traumatic small. So far no issues that I foresee corrosion becoming a problem. The other thing that worries me about the transmitter is that they now have a rubber flap covering the charging port. Again so far no issues, but I am suspecting that water will one-day get into it.
