Read more about the Max Hydration by Retrieve Health
Retrieve Health MAX HYDRATION is fortified with electrolytes, speeding up the absorption of fluids and vital nutrients while effectively rehydrating tissues. Fluids are generally the most overlooked nutrient in a dog’s diet. Lack of adequate fluids and electrolyte consumption can cause kidney failure in dogs which can lead to long term damage or even death. Max Hydration contains macro nutrients vital for full body repair. Essential amino acids and oxygen enhancers help maintain the highest metabolic efficiency.
Give before, during, and after activities or exposure to heat and sun.
Max Hydration Powder
Helps keep your dog hydrated & healthy
Speeds up fluid absorption
Assists in transporting more oxygen during activities
Keeping your large dogs properly hydrated may help eliminate causes of hip dysplasia. When your dog is working hard, oxygen is depleted more rapidly. Unfortunately, your dog’s largest muscles which need the most oxygen are found in the hind quarters. Lack of oxygen causes these large muscles to break down allowing the hips to displace.
Treat Them Like Athletes
Working with professional, Olympic, and world class human athletes we know the need for strong muscles. A 24-year old professional football play-er at six foot, two hundred and twen-ty pounds with a torn knee ligament may be able to play the entire season (in pain of course) since his strong muscles, tendons and other ligaments surrounding the knee will help keep it held together and functioning.
Now, take me at six foot, two hundred and twenty pounds at age 51. If I tear my ligament I will barely be able to walk, let alone run. My muscles, tendons and ligaments simply do not have the strength to help support proper knee function.
Take the same scenario and apply it to your dog’s hips. The large muscles in your dog’s hip area need to be strong in order to help keep its hips in their proper place. Weak muscles, tendons and ligaments allow the hips to displace. The older the dog, the weaker it’s muscles may become.
Keep their muscles strong and tendons, cartilage and joints lubricated. I feel too much credit is given to the hereditary aspect of Hip Dysplasia. Granted, many cases do exist but there may be a preventable cause. Keeping your dog properly hydrated will help keep the muscles fueled and tissue lubricated. Strong muscles keep hips together and lubricated tissue helps with fluid joint motion.
When your dog is exercising or hunting hard its body begins to overheat. During exertion your dog will burn more oxygen than it takes in, causing the muscles to break down.
Larger vs. Smaller & Old vs. Young
Smaller, younger people, for the most part, can run further than larger, older people. In most cases, smaller, younger dogs can run further than larger, older dogs.
Imagine a larger, older NFL tailback running 10 miles versus a younger, smaller distance runner. The first half mile would most probably find the NFL tailback well behind the younger, smaller runner. The older, larger runner’s legs, hips, and lungs would be screaming while the distance runner is barely working. Now imagine your larger, older dog having to do the 10-mile run three straight days while hunting. The results could most likely be severe muscle, tendon, ligament, and kidney damage due to severe dehydration and exercise fatigue.
