Steve Says: The 1 pound can is the best bang for your buck. You will need a knife or a screw driver to open it. It's designed like a paint can to keep the air out. I can open it with the flat edge of my knife.
Getting this size is a great way to make sure you'll have plenty when you need it. I keep it in my truck all season, just in case.
I seldom need protection from snow and ice, but I use Musher's Secret on my dogs pads when we run in the sand. I find it protects there feet the same way that waxing my boots makes them last longer. Musher's Secret is easy to use and I prefer it over boots as long as there are no sand spurs.
On long trips I use it to make sure my dogs feet hold up for the entire hunt. It's a great product.

This product moisturizes, protects from heat, cold and snowballing and is wonderful for dogs that work too hard to be bothered with boots.
My 50lb mix will spend hours in rough, close woodlands as well as doing rock climbs, where MS keeps her pads soft for grip. I have recommended this product to people in my medical practice and will continue to do so.
For best results I pack it well into the center of the foot so it can soak through the entire pad, with most foot pad treatments the consistency won't allow for this and the product is worn off the pad in minutes.
Probably its best application is keeping wintertime snow and road salt from directly contacting the foot and causing damage. Thank you for selling it; it isn't the easiest thing to find in stores!5 2633 Musher's Secret

By: Eric KressWe had a lot of snow (often 1-2 feet) and cold (down to -10 deg F) in Nov-Dec in Montana in 2010. Then hunted 9 days of Chukar in Idaho in Jan til it closed. It also was cold and snowy along with the rocks and cliffs that chukars love. Discovering Musher's Secret was a godsend this year. It completely prevents snow buildup and greatly reduces the sore pads these conditions can cause. On the -10 deg day my dog didnt mind the cold snow at all while my companion's dogs were wimpering and tiptoing around until we put some on their feet. I have used it to keep paws from becoming snow packed and it also helps keep burs out. Also used it on cut paws. First used EMT Gel and then used the mushers wax to seal it up and keep the dirt out. My dog's paws are more like Golden Retrievers' and he always used to gets snow balls between his pads during hikes. Musher's Secret is great in preventing the formation of snow balls - I use it all the time. The claims of it being odorless and non-staining are true - and it\'s a great skin moisturizer as well for hands. And I think it keeps the paw pads soft and prevents cracking.
