Many of the collars that we sell have a non-stimulation communication mode. We always have customers that want the ability to communicate with their dog without using an electric stimulation. They are looking for a tone to warn their dog prior to a correction. I warn folks regularly about the problems when using tone as a "warning." I prefer to teach the dog a command. After he "knows" the command, we add in the stimulation. After proper training when the dogs understands the command and chooses not to comply, he does not need a "warning." He needs a correction. Now, he might not need a very strong correction, and that is where the advantage of a low-level continuous stimulation collar comes in.

An adjustable stimulation collar allows you to pick the stimulation level that your dog needs for the particular situation or problem. If you want a non-stimulation warning feature on your collar, I recommend that you look at vibration. It will not cause problems with other dogs, and outside sources (telephone, pagers, cars, or microwave ovens) will not duplicate this feature.

Vibration Only -- Non-Stimulation Communication

The PetSafe Remote Trainer with Vibration is new take on the idea of a vibration collar with its adjustable vibration feature. This allows you to control the amount of the vibration from the dial on the transmitter. Much like a variable stimulation collar, adjustable vibration allows you to select between 15 different levels of vibration -- adjust the vibration level depending on the needs of your dog and the situation. Then press a button on on the handheld and the collar vibrates at the selected level. This allows you more flexibility in the in the use of Vibration training with your dog.

PetSafe Vibration collars are also great for working with deaf and hearing impaired dogs. Vibration gives you a method to communicate with deaf dogs without having to use electric stimulation. With many deaf dogs the biggest problem is in getting their attention when they are off leash. Vibration is not a shock. Depending on the level that you choose it is also not very strong. Using a vibration only collar will allow you to teach your dog to look to you when he feels the vibration and either return to your side or wait for your command via hand signals or by using the collar.

Just like working with an e-collar, your dog will not know what the vibration signal means. You have to take the time to teach your dog what it means and how to respond to the signal. Using normal training methods, the vibration allows you a new way to train dogs that cannot be taught normal voice commands.
