The Quilomene Hunting Vest was originally designed
in 1993. The intent was to produce a bird hunting
vest that would fulfill the water and cargo
requirements of an upland bird hunter who might be
out from several hours to all day. A 135 oz. water
capacity and nine cargo pockets (including a huge
clothing pocket) give it the capacity to carry all
that you might need for a long hunt. The fully
adjustable waist belt / shoulder strap design
allows you to carry most of the hunting vest weight
on your waist. It balances the load maximizing your
comfort and carrying capacity with a custom fit.
The hunting vest is fully adjustable. Whether you
are wearing a shirt and pants in warm weather or
layers of clothing for colder weather, this is
truly an all-season hunting vest.
Shoulder Strap-Waist Belt Design Features:
The shoulder strap - waist belt system is designed
to adjust providing a custom fit to hunters of all
shapes and sizes. The unique waist belt and
shoulder strap system allows you to comfortably
carry ample water and gear in the nine cargo
pockets, accommodating even the most demanding
hunter. The system is designed to distribute the
bulk of the weight on the waist where it is more
easily and comfortably carried. When fitting, the
shoulder straps have two adjustments and the waist
belt three allowing you to get a custom,
comfortable fit.
The waist belt has three adjustments:
Front - An over center cam buckle and about 12
inches of belt allows room for added clothing
during the winter months. Thread the strap through
the buckle, pull tight and throw the cam over to
lock in place. Easy and effective.
Sides - There is an additional adjustment on the
sides between the shell pockets and the hunting
vest gamebag. There is a length of belt webbing
that comes off the rear edge of the shell pocket
which goes through a D-ring on the edge of the
gamebag and comes back to velcro to the back of the
shell pocket. There is about 5" of adjustment on
either side. This adjustment allows for different
waist sizes and to prevent the shell pockets from
creeping rearward when expanding over heavier
clothing. Without these adjustments the pocket
would tend to migrate to the back.
The shoulder straps are adjustable front and
back:
Rear Strap - The rear strap is adjustable up and
down to accommodate different back lengths. Raise
the "Y" behind your neck to be as high as possible
without cutting into your neck, preventing the
straps falling off your shoulders. This is a
problem for many strap hunting vests.
Front Straps - Adjust with an unobtrusive slide
that is turned to the inside to stay away from gun
stocks.
Two Front Strap Anchors - The front straps velcro
to the slides. There are two D-rings on the top
edge of the shell pockets and the straps can be
anchored to either. Just undo the velcro and
unthread the strap and rethread on the other anchor
to change positions.
Capacites:
Water Capacity - Crucial for both dog and hunter,
especially in dry weather and long hunts. Keeping
your dog well hydrated pays big dividends and
prevents the danger of loosing a dog to
dehydration. Important for the hunter as well! The
Quilomene Vest has a 135 oz. water system standard
- fill it to whatever level you need for your hunt.
Cargo Capacity - Quilomene Vest has 9 pockets big
and small to carry all your gear. The large
clothing pocket is the most unique in that it
covers the entire back of the hunting vest. It
loads through a zippered opening between the back
two cargo pockets. To load, open the flap on the
top of the vest. Reach down through the zippered
opening and pull your clothing up over the
hydration system and stuff the rest in down below.
Now you have your clothing protected from gamebag
contents, out of the weather, and not getting
snagged by brush while you're hunting. To retreive
your clothing, just open the top flap and pull the
whole thing through the top! The gamebag on this
vest is an easy load rear entry. It is not an arm
breaker like so many hunting vests! With the
Quilomene Vest you can load your own birds with no
problem.
