A Transmitter is required to operate this launcher. The RL 10 may be
activated by Command Series & Command Series II Training collar Transmitters with Launcher controls and the RC - 04 or RL - 014 transmitters from as far away as 500 yards.
The RL 10 Bird Launcher is designed for use with live quail, pigeons, or
chukar. It is very useful in �staunching� and �steadying� well-started
pointing dogs and in encouraging flushing dogs.
The RL 10 Launcher lets you control the bird�s location and when it will
flush. The bird can�t walk off or run away and it can�t flush until you
pull the release lever. With the RL 10�s strong springs, the bird is
tossed high enough that it must fly. The 5� x 5� x 10� steel box has an
open design which permits good air flow so dogs have the advantage of
plenty of scent to help them locate the bird. The RL 10 launcher weighs
approximately 4 lbs. It is made of steel with a reenforced nylon launch
pad. The color is black. It uses one 9-volt battery (included).
Our experience is that the RL 10 Remote Bird Launcher will toss a small
canvas kapok retrieving dummy (#9634) 15-20 feet high.
Note: We do not recommend the use of ANY spring loaded �catapult� type launchers in introducing pups to birds. We suggest that manual �releasers� such as the 101 EZ convertible releasers are more suitable for use with pups. Also, we recommend that all dogs be on a check cord or otherwise under complete control when using manual spring-loaded �catapult� type launchers.
Flushing birds with remote �catapult� type launchers is likely the closest thing to training on wild birds. Better yet, you can control the location of the birds and when they will flush with remote launchers. When steadying a pointing dog to wing and shot, using two or more launchers at the same location can help maintain the dog�s interest and intensity after the initial flush. An occasional second and third delayed flush will help the dog anticipate additional flushes on all points and, therefore, help maintain its interest and its intensity longer. Manual launchers can also be used for the delayed second and third flushes.
