"I can't thank Sprenger enough for making this collar, and Gun Dog Supply for selling it!"
By: Kerin Riley
Chocolate Labrador. Family pet. I can't thank Sprenger enough for making this collar, and Gun Dog Supply for selling it! I have a large, incredibly strong Labrador Retriever who did not respond to any other type of walking aid; not a martingale, or head halter, or harness. With this collar he walks so well and the best part is - it doesn't rust! For a dog that is always wet from swimming in the ocean that is a lot to ask. We had three traditional non-buckle collars that all rusted shut but not this one. It also is so much easier to get on and off a really excited dog at the dog park. I highly recommend it.

"Very well made, easy to put on and REALLY makes a difference stopping excessive pulling when on a leash. "
By: Steve Zuromski From MA
Gordon. Hunts. Very well made, easy to put on and REALLY makes a difference stopping excessive pulling when on a leash. Perfect for training and avoids choking with a regular collar. I have put it on my own neck and it does NOT hurt unless you really tug on it.

"It has made life more enjoyable for not only myself, but my dog as well."
By: Jessica Tinoco-Cassel From NJ
Family pet. Although this collar looks intimidating to a person like myself, who did not know how to properly use it, I'm glad my dog trainer recommended it to me. It has made life more enjoyable for not only myself, but my dog as well. I look forward to all of the possibilities it will now offer to us, such as pleasant walks in private and public places, and so much more. It also came quick. I would highly recommend this product and website! Thank you! :)

"This collar is tremendously useful when used for walking my 80 lb bluetick hound, Annie."
By: Sarah Zappone From MO
Hunts. Family pet. This collar is tremendously useful when used for walking my 80 lb bluetick hound, Annie. It isn't used during hunting, but I love to walk, and it's nearly impossible to take Annie along when she's on a regular collar and leash. We have really progressed using the collar, and I highly recommend it. I see it as a tool that allows me to better communicate with her.

"Much easier to put on and take off of a dog."
By: Alison Schultz From FL
Owns 2 dogs. Competes. I have used it about 2 weeks. Much easier to put on and take off of a dog. The little red tab that I think locks the collar - I can't really move it with my fingernail, so I just don't use it. Collar has not come off even with some good corrections. So far, field dirt has not caused any problems with the latch, but I wonder what will happen when my dog rolls in some mud :)

Customer Review #28492
By: Deneen Wood From NE
Family pet. I wish I had purchased the Herm Sprenger that was all metal. I like the buckle but unfortunately it is just a little too big, but it will be too tight if I took out 1 more link. Once it slides down her neck it becomes ineffective.

Quality Herm Sprenger German made stainless steel plus a Security Buckle Lockable Quick Release. Just slide the red tab on the push button release and the buckle is locked! Guaranteed against rust, tarnish, or breakage when used properly. Proper fit is achieved by adding or removing links -- just snap them in or out. 1 1/2" links with 3.25 mm tines. Fits up to a 20" neck.
We prefer the steel "pinch" type dog training collars to choke chains as we have found their use to result in easier and faster training for both the dog and the trainer. We suggest that teaching "heel" is a good place to start with the pinch collar.
First adjust the collar by removing links or adding lengths to get a "good" fit - a fit where the dog will be comfortable when he is in the proper position but will become uncomfortable when he gets out of position. If the dog is wearing a regular collar, place the pinch collar in front of the regular collar and check frequently to be sure the pinch collar is not hanging up on the regular collar. We suggest keeping the pinch collar low on the dog's neck and walking at a slow but steady pace the first few sessions using a large (25' - 30') circular, figure 8, or box pattern. After several sessions, you should be able to progress to a varied pace, and quicker and sharper turns and stops. Placing the pinch collar higher on the dog's neck usually causes more discomfort and a better response in dogs that have not responded after several sessions. Also, a collar with smaller diameter prongs will usually elicit a better response for dogs that have been slow in responding.
We have found the springer pinch collar to be especially useful in teaching "heel", "sit", "whoa", "stay", and "here". Our own view is that choke chains and pinch collars should not be used on pups under six months of age. These collars should only be during training sessions and should NEVER be left on unattended dogs.
