Using this mode feature, the Sport Combo has the widest range of stimulation levels ever offered by Tri-Tronics. This collar even has more levels than the top of the line Tri-Tronics Pro 500. The Mode dial allows you to pick between a "basic" 10 level mode with tone, a momentary heavy mode (20 levels) or a continuous mode (20 levels). You can move back and forth between while training if you want to, but I expect most folks will find the mode they prefer and stay in it the majority of the time. You no longer have to pick between collars like we did when the Sport 80 collars came out. Most folks prefer to use more momentary or more continuous but until they have worked with a system, they don't always know which one is right for them. The Sport Combo gives you both. The only issue I have with this system is that it does look a bit "busy" or confusing because there is a bunch of info on the face of the transmitter. You have three dials. WATERPROOF Collar and Transmitter! The Tritronics Sport Combo G3 3 Dog is an improved version of the Tri-Tronics Sport 80M, Sport 80C and Multi Sport 3 series collars.

The transmitter has a dog selector dial that allows you to switch between Dog 1 (black), Dog 2 (red) and Dog 3 (blue). The Sport Combo G3 3 Dog is designed for working three dogs from one transmitter.

It replaces the Multi Sport 3 allowing you to control up to 3 dogs from one transmitter.

The Sport Combo is an advanced remote training collar and a great choice for all-around use with up to twenty levels of continuous and momentary stimulation instantly selectable at the transmitter. This means that you can instantly adjust intensity whenever distractions increase.

The G3 versions of the Sport collars are a drastic improvement over previous Sport products because of the wider choice of stimulation offered now. The earlier Sport models only had 6 intensity levels and did not work as a "training collar" with many of the more sensitive dogs. Adding additional levels to the stimulation setup has increased the spread on this collar to a wide enough range (slowly increasing the levels as you go up) to make the G3 Basic a much better remote trainer.

The Sport Combo combines three previous Sport series models into one transmitter. The dial located on the left side of the allows you to select three different stimulation modes.

Mode one is the "Basic" mode. It matches the stimulation set up on the Sport "Basic" system (10 continuous and 10 momentary)and includes the non-stimulation tone feature.

Mode two is the "momentary-priority" mode. It is based on the Sport 80M series collar but with more levels. This mode features 20 levels of momentary stimulation and 10 levels of continuous. Using the three buttons on the transmitter, the lower button is "low" momentary, the middle button is "high" momentary and the top button is for the continuous stimulation.

Mode three is the "continuous-priority" mode. It is based on the Sport 80C series collar but with more levels. This mode features 20 levels of continuous stimulation and 10 levels of momentary. Using the three buttons on the transmitter, the lower button is "low" continuous , the middle button is "high" continuous and the top button is for the momentary stimulation.

You can change from one mode to another at the transmitter while you are working your dog.

This allows you to pick what kind of stimulation you prefer for your specific training needs.

Continuous stimulation allows you to control the length of the correction based on how long you hold the button down.

Momentary stimulation is designed for delivering a quick pre-set duration of stimulation (less than 1 second) for enforcing commands the dog already knows and for correcting behavior.

Since all of the controls are on the face of the transmitter, a quick glance will tell you exactly where you are. The Sport Combo is designed for folks that want to start out simple but have the ability to do more advanced training without having to buy a new training collar. It is also well suited for folks train several dogs and have the need for a wider choice of different types and levels of stimulation.

• In "Basic" mode the bottom black button instantly controls 10 levels of momentary stimulation. The middle black button (with raised nub so you can feel the difference) instantly controls 10 levels of continuous stimulation. The top black button instantly controls the non-stimulation tone feature.
• In "Momentary-priority" mode the lower button is "low" momentary, the middle button is "high" momentary and the top button is for the continuous stimulation.
• In "Continuous-priority" mode the lower button is "low" continuous , the middle button is "high" continuous and the top button is for the momentary stimulation.

Collar range up to 1/2 mile.

Maximum range is based on "line of sight." This means that to get the full range out of a system there should be nothing between the transmitter and the receiver and the terrain should be flat and open. This isn't going to happen in most places that we spend time with our dogs.

The range on all of the systems that we carry will come down from the maximum based on training conditions, including weather, terrain, and the presence of cover.

Range is something that too much will never hurt, but too little can be a problem.

The new G3 collars feature a slightly different kind of continuous stimulation that will increase the systems ability to reach maximum distance in heavy cover and difficult terrain situations. The Pulsating Continuous Stimulation on the G2 collars transforms the old style continuous stimulation from a single impulse to a rapid succession of pulses. Because this is a "broken" signal instead of a single transmission it does a better job of reaching the receiver at maximum distance.

The pulses are so rapid that it gives the feeling of the old style continuous stimulation but increases the transmitters ability to reach maximum distance.
