The Tri-Tronics Pro 100 G2 is a smaller, lighter, and improved version of the Tri-Tronics 100 Lite/LS/XLS series collars. It is a versatile training collar and a good choice for all-around use with three levels of continuous stimulation (low, medium, and high) instantly selectable at the transmitter. This means that you can instantly adjust intensity whenever distractions increase. There's also a separate button for delivering a quick pre-set duration of momentary stimulation for enforcing commands the dog already knows and for correcting behavior.
Continuous Stimulation -- The trainer controls the timing and duration of continuous stimulation. The stimulation stays on while the transmitter button is depressed. You can make the stimulation a very quick pulse by pressing and releasing the button, or you can make it a longer correction by pressing and holding the button down.
Continuous has a safety "time out" feature that only allows the stimulation to last a maximum of about 9 seconds. If the stimulation times out, restore function by releasing the button and pressing again. In normal use collars do not time out because corrections are far shorter than 9 seconds.
Momentary Stimulation -- The duration of momentary stimulation is pre-set to only last a fraction of a second. Momentary stays on only briefly no matter how long the button is pressed. To produce a series of momentary corrections, press the momentary button repeatedly.
Six intensity levels can be quickly adjusted with the dial at the top of the transmitter. Teach yardwork/obedience and enforce known commands with lower levels of stimulation. Use higher levels to stop unwanted chasing or to overcome strong distractions. The Pro 100 G2 is a good choice for training any breed of dog. Audio tone with a separate button comes standard.
Note: We use and recommend the Tri-Tronics Pro 100 and the Pro 500 models for yard work (obedience) training and any other training where low levels of continuous stimulation are used to reinforce previously taught commands. The Pro 100 and the Pro 500 models have a low and a medium button for continuous stimulation (as well as a high continuous stimulation button). The continuous stimulation produced by using the low and medium buttons on the Pro 100 and the Pro 500 is lower than the continuous stimulation levels on the Classic 70, Flyway Special, Upland Special, and Pro 200. The medium and low continuous stimulation levels on the Pro 100 and Pro 500 are particularly useful with sensitive dogs/breeds.
This collar is NOT expandable. Need to work more than one dog at time? Take a look at the Tritronics PRO 100 G2 EXP and work up to 3 dogs at the same time.

I have been using the Pro 100 as my main "training collar" since it
came out in 1998. I have yet to find a better collar for training dogs
using the low-level continuous stimulation technique that is featured
by many professional trainers in such books as the Tritronics
Retriever Training book, the Rick Smith Method from the Pointing Dog
Journal, the Jerome Robinson Ultimate Guide to Bird Dog Training book,
the George Hickox videos, and the Perfect Start / Perfect Finish
videos.
The Pro 100 has a wide choice of stimulation levels and I have never
found a dog that was so sensitive that it could not be trained using
this collar.
What I really enjoy about the Pro 100 is that with the Low, Medium and
High stimulation choices, you can gradually increase the stimulation
level one handed without ever looking at the transmitter.
This allows you to precisely increase the stimulation without taking
your eyes off the dog and you have a free hand for working a check
cord, bird launcher, winger or auto backer transmitter, blank pistol,
or shotgun.
When you need to raise the level using the dial, the new ISS dial
allows you to do this with your thumb, so you can continue to operate
it one handed and you never have to look at the dial.
Another great feature for me is the new "A" position on the dial. If
you want to have a remote beeper added to your Pro 100 G2 all you have
to do is purchase the Tri-Tronics G2 Accessory beeper and you now have
a remote beeper combo that you control from the transmitter. This is
a really handy feature for upland hunters that what to locate their
dogs in heavy cover but be able to cut the beeper off when they don't
need it.
In the past I have used one collar for training and one collar for
hunting. Now I can have everything I need in one system.
I also use the Tri-Tronics 4 way holster. The allows me to hang the
transmitter by my side and it is easy to reach when I need it.
It is important to find the right holster for your set up. There are
several on the market and it makes a big difference if you can get one
that fits your needs. I prefer to have my transmitter out of the way
but close enough that I can get to it for quick corrections.
Tri-Tronics also now has the Mighty Micro Antenna that you can use
when range isn't a big issue. This add on antenna can be purchased
separately and it will make the transmitter much smaller while giving
you 60% of the normal range. 60% of one mile is a little over 1000
yards (3168 feet.)
I use one for yard work and basic bird work. It is amazing how
removing 6 inches from the transmitter can change the feel. The MMA is
also great for retriever trainers that are not as concerned with
range. When I run my big country bird dogs, I switch back to the
regular flex antenna.

Maximum range is based on "line of sight." This means that to get the full range out of a system there should be nothing between the transmitter and the receiver and the terrain should be flat and open. This isn't going to happen in most places that we spend time with our dogs.
The range on all of the systems that we carry will come down from the maximum based on training conditions, including weather, terrain, and the presence of cover.
Range is something that too much will never hurt, but too little can be a problem.
The new G2 collars feature a slightly different kind of continuous stimulation that will increase the systems ability to reach maximum distance in heavy cover and difficult terrain situations. The Pulsating Continuous Stimulation on the G2 collars transforms the old style continuous stimulation from a single impulse to a rapid succession of pulses. Because this is a "broken" signal instead of a single transmission it does a better job of reaching the receiver at maximum distance.
The pulses are so rapid that it gives the feeling of the old style continuous stimulation but increases the transmitters ability to reach maximum distance.
In situations where maximum range is not required and a smaller transmitter profile will be more comfortable for you, take a look at the Tri- Tronics MMA antenna .
This tiny inch and a half long antenna gets you an amazing 60% of the regular range with a more convenient transmitter profile any time long range isn't critical.
The Pro 100 G2 has 18 levels of continuous stimulation which means you control the
timing and length of the stimulation by how long you press the button.
The Pro 100 G2 also has 6 levels of momentary stimulation which is a premeasured
amount of stimulation that cuts on and off quickly, no matter how long the button is held.
The Pro 100 G2 has two red buttons for continuous stimulation
and one black button for momentary stimulation.
