Dog Tricks: How to Teach Your Dog to Walk Backwards
Teaching your dog to perform tricks is also a lot of fun!
Since I live in the Midwest and winters can be particularly harsh at times, there isn't always opportunity to get outside regularly. Tricks are one way I can keep my dogs busy and burn some energy, plus they can be taught right in the living room!
The other bonus is that some tricks actually have practical applications. For example, teaching your dog to walk backwards is not only a really cool trick to show your friends, but it comes in handy if you're ever in a tight spot and need the dog to back up out of your way. Plus, it works different muscle groups and develops coordination that can enhance the dog's physical well being.
Teaching a dog to walk backwards may look like a challenging trick to accomplish, but it really isn't all that difficult to get started.
