How to Use the Floating Ring on Snap Leads

Snap leads with floating rings can be used in a variety of ways to secure and restrain your dog.

1. Slip Lead

To turn your snap lead into a slip lead, simply attach the snap to the floating ring and loop it around your dog's neck.

This configuration allows for the lead to tighten around the dog's neck if they pull. This technique is ideal for teaching your dog to heel.



If your lead comes equipped with a chain end, this setup works even better.

2. Tie-out / Tree Lead

If your lead comes equipped with a snap on each end, you can use it to wrap around a tree or stake to make a tie-out lead.

After wrapping one end around the tree or stake, attach the snap to the floating ring and pull it tight to the tree.



Use the snap on the opposite end of the lead to attach to your dog's collar.

3. Over-the-shoulder

When your dog is not on the lead, securely carry it over your shoulder leaving your hands free.



Put the lead over your shoulder and across your body and connect the snap to the end ring, second snap, or floating ring.
