The SportDOG Bird Launcher system lets you remotely control the launch of birds or training dummies from up to 1/2 mile away. The Transmitter sends a signal to the Receiver that can be fitted to most brands of bird launchers or throwers in addition to the SportDOG Launcher Basket.

In Normal Mode, the Transmitter can be set to control up to four Receivers, and each Receiver can control up to nine devices using SportDOG extension cables for a total of 36 possible devices. In Expanded Mode, the Transmitter can control up to 36 independent Receivers. To add realism to training situations, the Transmitter can signal the Receiver to emit the sound of a duck quack, pheasant cackle, or shotgun report. By altering distances between the Transmitter and Receiver(s), and tailoring the sounds to the situation you're training for, the system provides countless options for hunters and trainers who train their dogs for everything from hunting to hunt tests to field trials.

    Transcript from Steve's Video:

This is the new SportDOG remote release. Remote release units are designed for using bird launchers, wingers, the Thunder launchers that we sell. This is new for SportDOG. It is the electronic part of any of the remote launchers that we use.

Theyíve done some really cool things with it. It will operate a bunch of different units. Itís got sound features. Itís got a couple of things we havenít heard before. It has a duck call. And then you can change the tone on the transmitter and go to a pheasant cackle. And then theyíve also got a shotgun blast for the retriever folks. Pretty realistic. Not as loud as some things, and it wonít necessarily replace poppers. But itís a pretty neat feature. Weíve been pleased with that.

Operates a bunch of different units. You plug in your units from the bottom, so this is a little different. Youíve got up to nine different units that you can plug into here and operate a bunch of different units from it. And then on your transmitter, you keep up with the different units as far as you move up and down to select which launcher you want, and then you have the eight keys on the front which allow you to pick between launch and sound.

Waterproof and flexible / 2 hour charging thumbs up

I’ve rigged three wingers with the sportDOG electronic releases and transmitter and have found them to be very simple to pair and set up. I find them to be more reliable than competitors and have lcd screen to confirm settings and functions on each receiver. The volume is adequate for the calls and shotgun report and easily changed from the transmitter. The receivers can even be paired and controlled from my sportDOG e-collar to reduce the clutter of different remotes. The main selling feature for me was the flexibility to control so many launchers off on receiver and the no BS waterproof rating. Friends run out to their Dogtra receivers when it starts to rain. I just continue training in rain, sleet, snow and fog without a worry. If I run into an issue, I know that sportDOG customer service always answers the phone and makes things right. Thomas and the rest of the team are a mitt full of aces. Buy without hesitation, sportDOG stands behind their products 100%, that’s not just word service as they prove it with only one call!
    • Multi unit flexibility
    • Control from e-collar transmitter
    • Easy operation
    • 100% backed by stellar customer service dept
    • Need to purchase Scotch extremely strong fasteners for attachment to wingers
    • Dual lock wet or dirty version works best
    • Doesn't come with unit number identification stickers

Review for SportDOG Remote Launcher Electronics

This really should be a split review. Sportdog customer service is very good. That would be 5-stars. The problem is with their initial quality that is 1-star.

I have purchased three Sportdog products; two collars and a remote launcher transmitter and receiver. Two of the three have had items that would not take their initial charge and had to be replaced.

They do a good job replacing their items and are nice and friendly, but they really need to work on their initial quality. 2 out of 3 failures is not a great record, and makes me concerned about the long-term durability of their products.

    We'll see.
