By: BruceWe bought this collar on the recommendation of our obedience trainer. It's strong points are that you can vary the stim level continuously from 0 to 127, thus you can dial in just the right level to get your dog's attention using 'nick' mode and no more. It also seems to be well built however we've only had it 2 weeks. No problems. I have a few reservations though. For hunting, increasing the stim level is hard to do with one hand. Plus you have to look down to read the stim level. A rotary dial with 'clicks' you can feel (like tritronics) is what I'm used to and also more practical for the field when carrying a shotgun. Even for yard use, if you need to increase the level if your dog takes off after a distraction across the street, it's takes too much time to flip the toggle from nick to continuous and then turn the rheostat up. In summary, this collar seems to shine for obedience work when the dog is on a leash or line and you want to be very careful to avoid over stimulation (which we all do), but for field work and hunting, I think a collar that can be used by 'feel' is more practical. Looks like I'll have to buy another model for hunting use.
