G2 Sport has been replaced by the new G3 Sport Series

Tritronics G2 Sport Series Overview: New! Meet the next generation of collars from Tri-Tronics: G2 Sport collars. The new Sport collars feature fully waterproof transmitters with a smaller, more streamlined collar/receiver. The new rapid-charging system + battery indicator lights make Tritronics G2 one of the easiest to use training collars available.

STEVE SAYS: NEW G2 TRITRONICS: More features at the same price as last year's collars equals a better value.
  • 2-hour rapid-charging system + battery life indicator lights make Tritronics G2 one of the easiest to use training collars available.

  • The Tritronics Sport collars are our best-sellers!

  • This wide selection of affordable, high-quality collars offers a collar for training any breed of dog.

  • Intensity levels can be quickly adjusted with the dial on the side of the transmitter

  • Teach yardwork/obedience and enforce known commands with lower levels of stimulation.

  • Use higher levels to stop unwanted chasing or to overcome strong distractions.
tritronics sport collarsStart with the Tritronics Sport 50 G2. For $239 you get a remote collar with 6 levels of momentary and 6 levels of continuous stimulation. The Tritronics Sport 60 G2 adds a separate button for tone.

Need more control? The Tritronics Sport 80C G2 has 12 levels of continuous stimulation and 6 levels of momentary for more advanced training. The Tritronics Sport 80M G2 gives you 12 levels of momentary and 6 levels of continuous for folks that prefer a wider selection of momentary stimulation.

Need to keep up with a wide-ranging gun dog? The Tritronics Sport 65 BPR G2 is essentially the 50 with a remote control beeper.

Have more than one dog? Try the Tritronics Multi-Sport 2 G2 or Tritronics Multi-Sport 3 G2 collars for controlling multiple dogs from one transmitter.

Tritronics Sport Series Collars, Range, and You
The range on all of the systems that we carry will vary from the maximum range based on training conditions including weather, terrain, and the presence of cover.

Range in a collar is something where too much range will never hurt, but too little range can be a problem.

It is my experience that a 1/2 mile range system (SPORTS SERIES) will work great for most folks. All of the retriever breeds, flushing dogs, close to medium running bird dogs, and every companion pet can work very comfortably with a 1/2 mile range system.

Some beagles can be worked with a 1/2 mile system, but as a rule I would prefer a 1-mile range collar for beagles...

Tritronics Sport Series Collars are Bullet-Proof?
The new G2 collar/receiver is made of LEXAN, a space-age product that is practically indestructible and used for bullet-proof windshields. We really don't think G2 collars are bullet-proof, but I doubt the warranty will be covered if you try to find out!

Tritronics Sport Series Collars have "Improved Water-Proofness"
My favorite line from Tri-Tronics sales literature is that the new collar design has "improved water-proofness." Huh? I find that odd since a product is either waterproof or it is not waterproof. How do you improve "water-proofness?"

Well, they did. And here is how: The new G2 collars feature a two piece design with the electronic components in one half and the battery in the other (see photo below). Both halves are completely sealed and waterproof. The two halves are connected with two screws underneath the collar strap which cannot come apart in the field.

Tritronics Sport Series Collars and Stimulation
The new G2 collars feature a slightly different kind of continuous stimulation that will increase the systems ability to reach maximum distance in heavy cover and difficult terrain situations.

The Pulsating Continuous Stimulation on the G2 collars transforms the old style continuous stimulation from a single impulse to a rapid succession of pulses.

Because this is a "broken" signal instead of a single transmission, it does a better job of reaching the receiver at maximum distance. The pulses are so rapid that it gives the feeling of the old style continuous stimulation, but increases the transmitters ability to reach maximum distance.

In situations where maximum range is not required and a smaller transmitter profile will be more comfortable for you, take a look at the Tri-Tronics MMA / Mini Micro Antenna. This tiny 1.5 inch antenna gets you an amazing 60% of the regular range with a much, much smaller transmitter size. - Steve

Tritronics G2 Sport Series Overview:

New!

Tritronics G2 Sport Series Transmitter (Remote)

ARCHIVE: G2 Sport Collars Review by Steve SnellThe biggest improvement on G2 Sport Series collars is the WATERPROOF TRANSMITTER. The new transmitters are now completely waterproof and submersible without risk of damage. This is a great feature for folks that hunt waterfowl with their retrievers or train in wet conditions. The new Sport transmitters also feature a new flat finish, sure-grip coating, which allows you a better grip. The new transmitters also feature the new Sport Antenna which has a sleeker design than previous models and is built to take more abuse without the risk of breaking.

Tritronics G2 Sport Series Collar

ARCHIVE: G2 Sport Collars Review by Steve SnellThe G2 Collar Receiver is 1/3 smaller than the current model making it the smallest, lighest and lowest profile collar ever produced by the Tri-Tronics company.

Measuring in at 2.5 X 1.75 X 1 inches and weighing 5.6 onces without the strap, this collar can be comfortable worn by a much smaller dog than the current S series collars.

In previous Tri-Tronics collars you have to open the battery compartment to replace your batteries. This compartment was not waterproof after it was opened. If you did not properly reset the o-ring when you replaced the battery cover, you could jeopardize the collar's watertight seal. With separate compartments for the electronics and the battery, there is no way to destroy the "waterproofness" of the new collars.

Tritronics G2 Sport Series Batteries

ARCHIVE: G2 Sport Collars Review by Steve Snell2-Hour Rapid Charging System

    • Get a complete charge within 2 hours from a fully drained battery.

    • HOLY COW! The new G2 Sport Series collars let you charge your battery at the very last minute and still be ready for an unexpected dog training session. In the good old days, (pre-2005 G2) you would need 14 hours to fully charge your Tri-Tronics collar system.

    • And... partially charged batteries power up to a complete charge in even less time.

    • Again: The new smart-charge battery cradle system allows for a rapid charge of a completly drained battery from "zero" charge to a "full" charge within two hours. Not 14 hours. 2 hours!

    • "Trickle-charge mode" prevents over-charging and enhances battery life.

    • The new charging system also has a charging indicator light on it that glows red while the system is charging.

    • Indicator Light changes to green once the battery comes to a full charge and drops into trickle charge mode.

    3-Way Battery Life Indicator Light.

    • Another new feature that folks will enjoy on the new G2 collar receiver is the 3-way battery life indicator.

    • The LED light on the collar will now tell you how much power you have left from your last battery charge without you having to guess or remember if you need to chage your collar before you go on a training session.

    • The new 3-way battery life indicator will use the colors GREEN for a full charge, YELLOW for a 50% charge and RED for a 25% charge.

    • Unlike previous models, you will be able to look at the collar light and know how much juice you have in your battery and when you need to charge it. This is a great feature, but it is overshadowed by the new charging system.

    Waterproof Field-Changeable Battery Packs

    • Waterproof field-changeable battery packs are a feature that many of the professional trainers and folks that work in extremely cold temperatures have been asking about for several years.

    • Most folks probably don't need this since the new collars have a slightly longer charge life between charges (100 to 120 hours)

    • This new feature is for folks that need the security of an extra battery and it is now available with the G2 products.

    • The additional advantage of this new collar battery design is the ability to keep an extra collar battery on hand for folks that want one on the unit and one on the charger.

    • Another advantage of the new waterproof field-changeable battery packs is that they no longer use a plug to connect to the charger. This does away with the charging jacks and the rubber mud plugs that have been a problem in previous collars.

    • Since there isn't a charging jack, there is no concern about it getting clogged with mud or debris and you don't need a flap to protect it.

Stimulation from the Tritronics G2 Sport Series

The new G2 collars feature a slightly different kind of continuous stimulation that will allow you to work your more stubborn dogs at a lower level. The Pulsating Continuous Stimulation on the G2 collars transforms the old style continuous stimulation from a single impulse to a rapid succession of pulses.

      • You still control the length of the correction based on how long you hold the button down which is just like the old-style continuous stim.

      • The pulses are so rapid that it gives the feeling of the old style continuous stimulation and my dogs react the same, but they are reponding at lower levels.

      • Dogs that would normally work on a high "1" or low "2" on a Sport 80 C are now responding to a "1/2" level and the low "1" but with no vocalization or over-reaction.

      • Rapid pulses allow the dog to feel the stimulation level quicker. Dogs don't go "numb" to it because it is multiple impulses instead of one long stimulation signal.

      • All 1-dog Sport models have at least 6 levels of momentary and 6 levels of continuous stimulation. For more advanced training, look the the Sport 80 collars.

The Sport 80 C has 12 levels of continuous and 6 levels of momentary. The Sport 80 M is the opposite with 12 levels of momentary and 6 levels of continuous.

      • The Multi-Sport 2 and Multi-Sport 3 are continuous stimulation collars only. They do not have any momentary stimualtion options.

    Tritronics G2 Sport Series Range

All of the Tri-Tronics G2 Sport collars have a range up to 1/2 mile.

Maximum range is based on "line of sight." This means that to get the full range out of a system there should be nothing between the transmitter and the receiver and the terrain should be flat and open. This isn't going to happen in most places that we spend time with our dogs.
