Helpful Hints:
To maximize the efficiency of the Heat-N-Breeze, mount the unit on the wall farthest from the door
Use a thermometer in your doghouse and adjust the units to come on at 70-75 degrees F
To help keep bugs out of your dog house, use the 1/2" foam piece to create a tight seal
It is recommended that you drill a separate hole next to the vent for the cord but still use the foam
It is advisable to place a bead of silicon around the edge of the exterior vent to prevent any leaks
To prevent heat loss in the cold months, remove the bug screen and replace it with the solid black plate
Not UL listed.
Operating Instructions:
FOR HEAT: Push the heat toggle switch down. Make sure the vent toggle switch is up. Turn the thermostat clockwise. Most customers set their dial just past "MED". This setting will keep a well built insulated house that has a door approximately 55 degrees F. Turning it a little further clockwise will make the house warmer. Mount the heat shield approximately 1 inch above the unit. (the black rounded piece of metal)
FOR VENT: Push the vent toggle switch down, making sure the heat toggle switch is up. Turn the thermostat counterclockwise until the fan comes on and adjust accordingly.
I purchased this Hound Heater for a 3.4ft x 5.4ft doghouse/kennel that is built inside a 6x8 insulated and carpeted shed. The unit was very easy to install, but it doesn't get up to the temp that I expected. It's been on high for several days and the heater has bright the kennel up to 45/50 degrees. We live in Boise, ID where the lows don't drop below 20.
I don't want to return it because it would make an ugly patch in my wall from the vent if I remove it. 😕 I now have a $12 space heater in the shed that is on med-low and keeps the entire shed at 68-75. I still have the Hound Heater on high for emergency back up if the space heater fails. The Hound Heater is only 300w without a fan so, this heater along with your dogs body heat would be just enough to keep them from freezing to death in my space.
Pros
I called Gun Dog Supply before purchasing to ask some questions and they were very helpful. It was nice actually talking to a member of the company.
Super easy to install. Looks nice. My dogs will probably like the breeze function. Functions as described (radiant heat) in very small, insulated and enclosed spaces only. I highly recommend it for that type of space.
Cons
Sufficient heat limited to very small, insulated and enclosed
spaces. Only 300 watt, radiant, no fan feature for heat, Retuning it would require uninstalling and patching a large hole in wall.

Keeps the pups nice and toasty!

We have two hounds that have free roam of our 7 acres, and sometimes spend the night outside if they don't want to come in, so I wanted to heat their dog houses. They have seperate dog houses so we ordered two. Installing them was easy, the hose is the most annoying part to get attached, but the heaters worked great. I thought the heaters would cut off once they reach the desired temperature, but that isn't the case, so we unplug them during the day, and then plug them back in at night. Our dog houses were about 80 feet from an outlet, and we were using an extension cord, but it tripped the outlet. We ended up moving their houses and running an outlet to a post next to them. I am excited about the fan in the summer but obviously haven't tried that out yet. Their houses are 36' x 40' x 36' and insulted with 1 inch foam between plywood on all 6 sides and two way doors. The heaters keep them at 75 degrees when it was 32 outside (set at medium). I recommend wireless thermometers to monitor the temperature and to know if the heaters are not working. I bought a wireless thermometer off Amazon with three sensors and a home unit for $30, and it works all the way in the house from their houses, which is about 100 feets. I was paranoid about the houses catching on fire, and the dogs not being able to get away from it (they are closed in kennels that are small at night for their protection from coyotes), so I also got wireless smoke detectors that communicate with one I install in our master bedroom ($50 on Amazon) - we also put one in our barn and my shop too, nothing to do with the dogs just a good idea to catch a fire quickly. All in all, I am happy with the purchase.

Doesn't get that cold in SoCal but gets hurricane windy in my area. My old girl loves it. You'll feel the heat emanate on the outside of her Dogloo near it. Sound of the fan bothered her in summer so we stopped using breeze mode.
Pros
Heats appropriately for a canine.
Cons
Access to thermostat controls (have to crawl into Dogloo with flash light).

The hound heater/breeze is good. I've yet to try it. But installed as directed. Gun Supply service was great as always. They are the only company I use for my joint supplies.

Works really well so far. Keeps my puppies nice and toasty in the 4'x4' kennel we built. Keeps it about 65-70 degrees when it's set around medium all the time with temps dropping into the low 20's. Great product!

These work well....I purchased 2 last year and ordered a third this year for my dog houses. Only thing I would recommend is to buy a real 5 inch hole saw for the install. One is included, but it's absolute crap. The one that came in the heater I purchased this year didn't even have an arbor so it couldn't be used. The heater itself works great. I did modify the switch/thermostat doors on mine. I removed the little spring clips and found bolts that would thread into the metal housing after my beagle pup got too curious. I'm still not sure if she ate the clip or not, but it's been a year and she's still OK, so I guess if she did it didn't hurt her too bad. I would much rather have to remove a bolt to flip from hot/cold or to set the thermostat than have puppies chewing on switches and metal clips.

We built a 3 x 6 foot dog insulated house inside our shed for our Bloodhound Georgia to take shelter in during cold or inclement weather while we are at work. We thought that the Hound Heat-N-Breeze would be the perfect fit for our cold winters and hot summers to keep the house comfortable year round. We have crawled through the dog door a number of times to check the inside temperature of the house and have found it consistently at 45-55 degrees (depending upon the outside temperature) with the heater on medium. We love the rugged construction and safe, consistent heat with this unit and would recommend it to anyone who needs to climate control their dogs outdoor resting areas.

The heater works fine. But stays very hot above the unit, and this radiates down of course. It would be helpful to recommend a possible reflective insulation on top of the inside of the dog house. I think the performance would be stronger and the animal warmer.

If only harley and diesel could talk. They would tell everyone how much they love their new heater. During a cold spell we hardly see them. Their house stays very cozy now.
