Owns 2 dogs. Hunts. I am hard of hearing, and this beeper is easy for me to hear. It works well, and I am very pleased with it.

German Shorthaired Pointers. Owns 14 dogs. Hunts. Only improvement would be that the speaker be on top of the unit.

"I like the 4 modes there are to choose on this unit."
Hunts. I like the 4 modes there are to choose on this unit. The weight is the only thing I don't like. I bought it to add on my e-collar, but it shifted so much that I had to put it on a collar by itself. So I ended up having to hunt my dog with two collars; one for the e-collar, and one with this add-on beeper.

Hunts. Well done product. Simple, easy to use, and it gets the job done. It was lighter than I thought it was going to be. I like the replaceable battery. I have had units run out of juice in the field. Hard to recharge then. I would prefer to carry a spare battery, so this is good for me. I would give it a 5, but it is too loud for me and no way to control the audible. That is just me. My dog stays close, so I made a hush cover for it out of a VC-1593-16 Cap Plug. Just punch a 1/4 inch hole in the cover and place it over the speaker end, and it cuts the audible by 40%. This is also good to start a dog with, so they get used to the beeper without it blasting their eardrums out. I am probably the only hunter saying a beeper is too loud. LOL There is one in every crowd. I know the dog appreciated it. Good product and great value. Gun Dog Supply, you did a great job too! Fast getting it out the door, Thanks.

Unit is heavy compared to Sport Dog's. But my big issue is that the beeper is not loud enough.

To Turn the Unit On: Press the on button (the green one closest to the battery compartment) and hold until a series of chirps are heard, then release it. There is a one-second delay on the action of both switches to prevent inadvertent operation while in use. The number of chirps heard indicates the operating mode. The collar is now on and will begin operation after five seconds.
Mode 1 - Normal, Point-Only -- Beeps each second after 8 sec. motionless
Mode 2 - Normal, Point & Run -- As above when pointing, double-beep every 8 sec. when running
Mode 3 - Grouse, Point-Only -- Beeps each second after 4 sec. motionless
Mode 4 - Grouse, Point & Run -- As above when pointing, double-beep every 4 sec. when running
To Change Modes: Press the on button again within five seconds of turning the unit on (or just continue to hold it down) to advance to the next operating mode. Each time the mode changes, the corresponding number of chirps will be heard. The unit will loop back to mode one after mode four.
To Turn the Unit Off: Press the off button (the red one closest to the speaker) and hold until a click is heard, then release it. The unit is now off. The operating mode will be remembered when the unit is next turned on.
Placing Unit on Dog: This beeper can be attached to any 1" Duralon or Day-glo type collar simply by sliding the collar through the molded slot in the beeper. Some lubricant such as Vaseline or WD-40 may be needed to help slide it through. It will work upside down on top of the neck or on the bottom as a stand alone beeper and can be added to most brands of training collar straps.
Changing Battery: Unit uses standard 9V alkaline battery. Use a coin to unscrew the battery compartment plug. After changing battery, tighten plug securely into battery compartment until it is flush. You will have to reset the operating mode after changing battery.
