The Mud River Dixie Insulated Kennel Cover has many features that will allow your dog protection from the cold and rain making your standard dog crate a warm, dry, and comfortable place for your hunting dog. It will keep the inside of your crate 20-40 degrees warmer than the outside air temperature (depending on size of dog, working or resting dog, windows on or off, door up or down).
Features on the Dixie Dog Crate Cover include MicroLite3
insulation, a 2-ply infused 1200D Poly industrial grade bottom that is built to withstand years of abrasion, water-resistant coating for protection in foul and unpredictable weather, rubber handles on the top making it easy to move and carry, and 4 side D-Rings for securing the kennel in the back of your truck.
Rubber mesh over each window and velcro loops on the front allow you to open up the sides and roll up the front flap for proper airflow when the weather warms up. The Mud River Kennel cover also has multiple side, rear, and top pockets and storage areas that help you keep all your dog training gear safe and secure. Comes with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty.
WARNINGS:
Never close all the kennel cover doors and windows at the same time -- depending on your dog and various external factors, temperatures can increase more quickly than expected.

Typically, the Dixie Cover will keep the inside of your crate anywhere between 25-40 degrees warmer than the outside air temperature, depending on a few factors:

If your dog has been in the field working (the temp inside will be higher than normal)

For a long time I looked at all of the kennel covers on the market and just didn't see anything that would give my dogs the protection that they need in the winter months.
The Mud River Kennel cover is a really well built product. It is obvious that these guys are hunting dog owners that care about the safety and well being of their dogs.
Bought this for a 14 hour trip to North Dakota, so far on short trips around home is has worked really well. Very little movement or flapping at high speeds on the interstate, easy to put on and open / close. The rings on the top are very handy for tiedown. Great dog kennel

I have only had this cover for a few weeks but I have had several over the last 15 years of owning a dog. It is true to the measurements, durable, and appears to hold heat well. The storage on the outside is nice but honestly most of it is unusable for me. To utilize and reach most of it I have to get in the back of the truck. But that's not a big deal for me because I'm buying it to keep my dog warm and out of the elements during the winter. The storage is just a bonus. This is the only kennel cover I will use and Gun Dog Supply is always great to deal with.

Fits my Dakota 283 large perfectly. Well constructed with nice heavy zippers. The bottom of the cover is of a different material and appears very rugged. Only add I would suggest is a way to pass a strap though the cover to take advantage of the molded in handle for tiedown. I'm very pleased.

Ok I got this for my medium dakota 283 crate. They recommended a large which I found to oversize to suit me. So I bought the medium couldn't get the crate in it sent it back then requested it to be returned. Lol.... I decided to cut the bottom out and slide it over the top. Fits great. I'll use a couple Hunter orange straps to secure it. Done deal

Just what I needed

This cover works great for our black lab in his Ruff Land Kennel (large). It keeps him nice and toasty in the back of the truck. The handles on the top make it very easy to move between vehicles, and the storage pockets come in really handy. At first, I was worried that it would be a chore to put on the crate, but it slipped over it without any difficulty. I wouldn't change a thing!

This is my second Mud River insulated kennel cover. I bought it for a intermediate size Ruffland kennel and the medium size cover is a perfect fit. I have a 58 lb female Drahthaar and this box is roomy enough but not too big. She loves it.

I went for the extended size on this because of the recommendation that it fits most kennels better. It's too big for my kennel.
The product itself is very high quality. I'm not sure what I'll use all the pockets and compartments for, but it is well built. Just get the right size.

I am very impressed with the quality of this product. I have installed it on Vari Kennel 300. It is tight going on, but fits very nicely once installed. The only issue I have is that the side vents of the kennel cover don't line up well with the vents in the Vari Kennel. I think in this size crate all of the vents are higher on the crate than they are on the cover. Definitely a step up from the moving blankets I've been using to keep my dogs warm during my late fall hunting trip. We'll see what they think this November in North Dakota.
