When you buy a Pro 100 1-Dog, it comes with a collar/receiver but now you can also add your Sport Basic collar/receiver and use BOTH with your Pro 100 transmitter, so you really have a Tritronics Pro 100 2-Dog. Or you can use both collars with your Sport Basic Transmitter. You can move them back and forth as often as you want to.
Replace Older G2 Collars
The EXP Collar/Receiver can also be used as a replacement for older Tritronics G2 systems
which were NOT expandable.
For example, say you need a replacement G2 collar because
you've lost or damaged your G2 collar/receiver and don't want to get it repaired;
you can buy an EXP collar, and sync the collar with your G2 transmitter, and you are good to go.
Today we're going to look at the Tri-Tronics EXP receiver. This is the collar part of a Tri-Tronics system. The majority of the time when we're talking about Tri-Tronics systems we're talking about the transmitter. The transmitter controls the different functions of the system. But the collar is the key part of the system.
What's neat about Tri-Tronics systems is in the Field and Pro line they use the exact same collar. You start off with the Classic 70, go all the way up to a Pro 500, you are actually getting the exact same collar.
One of my favorite things about this particular system is the design of the battery. If you look closely at this system there is a split in between the top of the collar and the bottom of the collar. That's the battery. Unlike every other system on the market, these two parts are separate pieces, and so they are completely independently waterproof. So when you have to switch a battery out you do not open up the system. You don't get to see the electronics. There's not circuit board or anything along those lines. It's just two separate pieces. And that's great. It just makes them a little bit more dependable.
It always makes me nervous when I'm switching a battery out on a collar and I open it up and I can see all the insides of it. I just really don't care for that. So this is one of the things about the EXP receiver that I personally like.
Pretty simple device. You've got loops for your collar strap. They're all set up where they will switch out on pretty much any of the glow-style straps that we use. They have to be the thin straps, so some of the dog collars we sell aren't going to fit. But the majority of our thin high flex straps will work.
Slide it through. I prefer to have mine as close to the buckle as possible. It gives you the most flexibility as far as sizing goes.
A couple other key parts. You've got your contact points. You can switch these out for long or short. We've got a video on how to do that. It's pretty simple. And then you've got your on/off button. It's the button here on the top. When you turn it on it will beep at you and you can see the flashing light. It flashes green about every two seconds when the collar is turned on.
This is your battery indicator. It will go green when you have a full charge. When it gets down to about 25% of a charge it's going to turn to more of a yellow/amber color. And then when it gets down to less than 10% it's going to turn to a red color. I don't like to let mine get that low. I seldom like to let mine get down to amber. Depending on how I'm using them, I charge mine about once a week. If I'm using them heavy I'll do a couple of times a week. You can't hurt the system by charging it.
Great little system. When you cut it off it beeps at you and shuts off. Great collar. Tri-Tronics has been using these since the G2 came out. This is just the current version. They've made some improvements to make it a little stronger. Just a great collar.
Owns 2 dogs. Hunts. Family pet. In my personal opinion, Tri-Tronics collars are the best investment you can make in an e-collar. Service at Gun Dog Supply is unmatched as well. Excellent products and excellent service.

"I hate to have to use anything but tone, but if it comes to that, I use them in a heartbeat as opposed to losing my dog."
Owns 4 dogs. Family pet. I originally purchased my collar for my hard running young English Pointer, paired it up with a GPS, and have never looked back. He quickly learned and works on tone only almost 100% of the time. I adopted an older female GSP, and put a collar on her just for kicks. She was obviously already trained to one. Then decided to try one on my GSP who runs with me. I did have to put the longer points on and use stronger buttons twice, but that was it. She too now works off of tone only. It's a wonderful tool used properly. Yes, I hate to have to use anything but tone, but if it comes to that, I use them in a heartbeat as opposed to losing my dog. I highly recommend this collar to anyone looking for the working breeds. There are less expensive ones, but I have used this one every single day for almost 2 years and it's never let me down. They are tough, durable, and dependable.

"Have found that only the tone is necessary for getting them to respond."
Owns 2 dogs. Family pet. We live on 37 acres, and this has been a lifesaver for making sure our labs don't wander too far. This makes them truly pay attention when they're called, and have found that only the tone is necessary for getting them to respond.

"Perfect for corrections when the dog knows the command but chooses to ignore"
Owns 6 dogs. Competes. The collar is a great addition to the first collar I purchased for my Basset Hound. It's great that they can both be controlled with the same remote. I have had great success with these collars for correcting unwanted behaviour. They have turned stubborn dogs into thinking before they act dogs, as well as keeping them safe! Highly recommended!

"Stands up to the toughest of conditions (rain, mud, and snow), and still working like brand new."
Owns 2 dogs. Family pet. Great quality product, and I really like the long battery life and really fast charging time. I think this is a great tool to train or correct bad behavior, especially for the stubborn dogs. If you use this receiver the right way, it works very well. I just bought a replacement receiver because I got a 2nd dog. This product is built very solid and accurate.... Highly recommend.

GWP. Owns 2 dogs. Hunts. Worked great for the new Puppy. One question though. How do I get the Skunk smell off of it. Yes, after 9 beautiful points on wild birds in South Dakota, she took on a skunk. I guess that can be expected from a 7 mo. old pup.

Owns 2 dogs. Family pet. We bought our first Tri-Tronics Sport Basic G3 collar from Gun Dog Supply Canada for our 1st dog almost a year ago. This has been the best training aid we could have asked for. It has worked wonders with our dog! He gets so excited every time we take it out, because it means an off leash walk :-). So when we adopted his sister in August, we started considering getting a second collar. Since it had been discontinued in Canada we are eternally grateful for Gun Dog Supply US for supplying us with a product. We hope we never have to do without! 1 remote, 2 collars = happy dogs and owners! Thanks so much Steve Snell and staff! You really have a great team and great products!

Owns 11 dogs. Hunts. Have had only one problem over a three and a half year period. I have had three out of my six receivers on/off button stick. A common problem with me. Had to send back. Could not turn unit on. Need to improve some way. Very inconvenient. Otherwise, I am very pleased with this unit.

Corgi,Anatolian. Owns 13 dogs. Family pet. We have found the Sport Basic G3 to be a highly effective method of assisting in the training of specific behaviors with several different breeds. The control unit is small and easily portable and has a nice protective cover. I appreciate the control that allows a small stimulation (we tested it on our arm 1st!) and its ability to incrementally increase for those dogs who cannot detect the lowest level. Two things I would like to see improved are (1) the ability to adjust more easily between dogs on the control & (2) a lighter, less bulky receiver. I would utilize the unit much more if it was smaller and lighter. Thank you for recommending and carrying great products.

"Bright colored collar makes it a lot easier to see the dog."
Hunts. Family pet. All of our Tri-Tronics gear suits the purpose. Visiting dogs get to wear the anti-bark collar, which has worked in a couple of hours, then peace. My pal 'Jack' occasionally gets a tune-up, but he's a good boy, and does his work because he loves it and the companionship. I also work two dogs from the one controller, and after I get my thumbs working, everything is very smooth. The key to using this type of equipment is that it serves as one tool, but is not all you need. No matter how good the gadgets get, it is the man/dog relationship you must rely on in the long run. Yellow Labs. Owns 2 dogs. Hunts. Family pet. I like the product. The dogs trained very well from it. The only problem I ran into with using this with 2 dogs at the same time is that I wanted to correct one dog and mistakingly had it set for the other dog. I was wondering why the dog I was wanting to correct was not responding. User mistake there. Have used your product in the rain, water and snow...........still operates the same as it did when I took it out of the box brand new.

Beagle with Red Tick. Hunts. Family pet. 1) It would be very nice to securely fasten the dog license on the orange strap laying flat. The hound will charge through very dense brush and the license dangling from the hook works its way loose and is also a hazard to the dog. 2) I'm hoping for the Garmin / Tri-Tronics combo collar in the next wear out cycle and that the battery life is good. Right now he goes with a double collar. When I replace, I'd want to get a combo collar and a second non-GPS collar where both work off the same hand unit. 3) Overall I'm pleased with the Tri-tronic. It was instrumental in training the dog. He will generally come to voice (75%), tone (20%) and only needs level 1, 2, or 3 infrequently or when he smells a whitetail.

Family pet. Competes. The original Tri-Tronics bark collar trained her really well to get her not to bark loud when she has an e-collar on. But something went wrong with the replacement receiver or the battery a few months ago, and I haven't had a chance to open it up and try to see what is wrong. So for now I just put her training electronic collar on her, and she doesn't know the difference. She knows that when she has an e-collar on, she can't get away with loud barks.

How to Match Additional Tri-Tronics EXP Collars to Your System
Please read all steps before starting.
1. Install strap of the desired color on the new collar and charge new receiver for two hours.
2. Set transmitter dog selection switch to the color of the strap.
3. Set transmitter intensity dial to a number, not a letter.
4. Turn the collar on.
5. Press and hold collar on/off button, then press and hold a "continuous" transmitter button. Hold both buttons down for about 5 seconds - until you hear two quick beeps (ignore the long beep that sounds right away). Release both buttons.
6. The collar will now be set to match your transmitter, and will be turned off.
7. Check for a successful match by turning the collar back on and pressing a "continuous" transmitter button. The collar light will turn on. If you are not planning to use the unit now, turn the collar off after testing.
If the transmitter does not operate the new collar, try the procedure again. If you are still having trouble, you can call Tri-Tronics Customer Service Department at 1-800-456-4343 for help.
Note for Classic 70 G3 EXP or Trashbreaker G3: When adding a receiver for dogs 1 - 3, use the button that matches the strap color and place the dog selection switch in the UP position. When
adding a receiver for dogs 4 - 6, use the button inside the colored circle that matches the strap color and place the dog selection switch in the DOWN position.
