Item # 3909 Tritronics G3/G2/EXP ReceiverRated 5 stars from 24 customer ratings.
Summary: We have found the Sport Basic G3 to be a highly effective method of assisting in the training of specific behaviors with several different breeds. The control unit is small and easily portable and has a nice protective cover. I appreciate the control that allows a small stimulation (we tested it on our arm 1st!) and its ability to incrementally increase for those dogs who cannot detect the lowest level. Two things I would like to see improved are (1) the ability to adjust more easily between dogs on the control & (2) a lighter, less bulky receiver. I would utilize the unit much more if it was smaller and lighter. Thank you for recommending and carrying great products. |
Steve Says: The EXP Collar/Receiver is for anyone that has a 1-dog Tritronics collar who needs to work more than one dog at a time.
Compatible Across All Current Tri-tronics Sport / Field / Pro Systems
Nowadays, every single Tritronics system uses the Tritronics EXP Collar/Receiver. It works with any G2, G2 EXP, or G3 system which covers most Tritronics products from the last four or five years.
Mix and Match Collars and Transmitters Across All Current Tri-tronics Sport / Field / Pro Systems
One of the really cool things about Tritronics collars is that they are compatible with all the other recent Tritronics transmitters. For example, say you have a Tritronics Sport Basic training collar for 1-Dog and you decide
you want to upgrade to a Tritronics Pro 100.
When you buy a Pro 100 1-Dog, it comes with a collar/receiver but now you can also add your Sport Basic collar/receiver and use BOTH with your Pro 100 transmitter, so you really have a Tritronics Pro 100 2-Dog. Or you can use both collars with your Sport Basic Transmitter. You can move them back and forth as often as you want to.
Replace Older G2 Collars
The EXP Collar/Receiver can also be used as a replacement for older Tritronics G2 systems
which were NOT expandable.
For example, say you need a replacement G2 collar because
you've lost or damaged your G2 collar/receiver and don't want to get it repaired;
you can buy an EXP collar, and sync the collar with your G2 transmitter, and you are good to go.

By: Robert Barney from NJLab. Pet. Hunting dog. All of our Tritronics gear suits the purpose. Visiting dogs get to wear the anti-bark collar which has worked in a couple of hours,, then peace. My pal 'Jack' occasionally gets a tune-up but he's a good boy and does his work because he loves it and the companionship. I also work two dogs from the one controller and after I get my thumbs working, everything is very smooth. The key to using this type of equipment is that it serves as one tool, but is not all you need. No matter how good the gadgets get, it is the man/dog relationship you must rely on in the long run. By: Gregory Barber from MIBeagle with Red Tick. Pet. Hunting dog. 1) It would be very nice to securely fasten the dog license on the orange strap laying flat. The hound will charge through very dense brush and the license dangling from the hook works its way loose and is also a hazard to the dog.
2) I'm hoping for the Garmin / Tri-Tronics combo collar in the next wear out cycle and that the battery life is good. Right now he goes with a double collar. When I replace, I'd want to get a combo collar and a second non-GPS collar where both work off the same hand unit.
3) Overall I'm pleased with the Tri-tronic. It was instrumental in training the dog. He will generally come to voice (75%), tone (20%) and only needs level 1, 2, or 3 infrequently or when he smells a whitetail.5 1881 G3 Reviewed: August 30, 2011

* The toggle switch that selects the 3 collars at a time allows you to keep off the active collars to avoid an accidental shock.
* Easy to activate, smaller size, nice charging system.
No negatives come to mind.

By: Brad Johnson from IL2 dogs: Yellow Labs. Pet. Hunting dog. I like the product. The dogs trained very well from it. The only problem I ran into with using this with 2 dogs at the same time is that I wanted to correct one dog and mistakingly had it set for the other dog. I was wondering why the dog I was wanting to correct was not responding. User mistake there. Have used your product in the rain, water and snow...........still operates the same as it did when I took it out of the box brand new.5 1901 Pro 500 G2 EXP Reviewed: August 31, 2011

The new receiver is much quieter when buzz is activated than my original receiver is. I think that when the dog is moving fast through thick cover it doesn't hear the new receiver as well as my original receiver. 4 1875 Tri-tronics Replacement Receiver G3 / G2 EXP -- 07-18-2009 Reviewed: August 31, 2011

By: ROXANNE NELSEN from CALab. Pet. Competition dog. the original tritronics bark collar trained her really well to get her not to bark loud when she has an e collar on. But something went wrong with the replacement receiver or the battery a few months ago and I haven't had a change to open it up and try to see what is wrong. So for now I just put her training electronic collar on her and she doesn't know the difference. She knows when she has an e collar on, she can't get away with loud barks.4 2771 Tri-tronics Add-On / Replacement Receiver G3 / G2 EXP---- 12-21-2009 Reviewed: September 13, 2011

How to Match Additional Tri-Tronics EXP Collars to Your System
Please read all steps before starting.

1. Install strap of the desired color on the new collar and charge new receiver for two hours.

2. Set transmitter dog selection switch to the color of the strap.

3. Set transmitter intensity dial to a number, not a letter.

4. Turn the collar on.

5. Press and hold collar on/off button, then press and hold a "continuous" transmitter button. Hold both buttons down for about 5 seconds - until you hear two quick beeps (ignore the long beep that sounds right away). Release both buttons.

6. The collar will now be set to match your transmitter, and will be turned off.

7. Check for a successful match by turning the collar back on and pressing a "continuous" transmitter button. The collar light will turn on. If you are not planning to use the unit now, turn the collar off after testing.
If the transmitter does not operate the new collar, try the procedure again. If you are still having trouble, you can call Tri-Tronics Customer Service Department at 1-800-456-4343 for help.
Note for Classic 70 G3 EXP or Trashbreaker G3: When adding a receiver for dogs 1 - 3, use the button that matches the strap color and place the dog selection switch in the UP position. When
adding a receiver for dogs 4 - 6, use the button inside the colored circle that matches the strap color and place the dog selection switch in the DOWN position.
