Summary: It works great and the range is excellent. I lost one of the pins, out of warranty, but they sent me a replacement free of charge. I highly recommend it!
Tri-Tronics reenters the pet market this year with the Sport Junior. The Sport JR. combines the
smallest remote collar ever made by Tri-Tronics (it's the same mold as the Bark Limiter) with a
twist on the old Sport 50 transmitter.
The biggest thing I want to stress to our customers is that this is a "pet" only product. Many sites are
pushing this collar as something that is suitable for a close working hunting dogs or for duck hunters. This is not the case. While the range of this system is fine, the transmitter is NOT water proof. There is no way we can recommend that a duck hunter purchase a water resistant transmitter.
If you want the small receiver collar for your duck dog, check out the Basic Junior -- where we combine the Sport Basic transmitter with the Sport Jr. collar. This gives you a waterproof collar AND transmitter.
A couple of other issues to point out to our pet customers about the Sport Junior:
It's non expandable -- the Sport Junior is a one dog only system. You can NOT add additional dogs at any time.
Tri-Tronics decided to add a built in Tracer Light and remove Tone. While I am not a big fan of tone, it is an important feature to many of our pet customers.
The Sport Jr. comes with long contact points only. Short Contact Points must be purchased separately.
All that said, what's really cool about the Sport Jr. is that both the collar and the transmitter will work with any G2,
G2 EXP, or G3 system. This means you can add them to the system you already have if you want a smaller collar or transmitter. You can use the collar along with the larger G3 collars with another transmitter. Click here to read more about the Junior Collar.

4 dogs: AM STAFF TERRIER/ OLD ENGLISH/ JACK RUSSELL TERRIERS. Pet. Competition dog. Working dog.
Prior to purching the Sport Jr G3, a friend and I had been sharing a 12 yr old Tri Tronic training collar. Between the two of us, we have owned or trained Am Staff Terriers, Am Bulldogs, Pit Bulls, Jack Russell Terriers, Old English Bulldogs, Rottweilers, Dobeman Pinschers, and others.breeds. I have shown and completed a number of AKC Champions. All of these animals were trained using Tri Tronic's collars.
Yes, there are other trainig collars on the market, but they will not endure the daily training.
Tri Tronic is an excellent company and they stand behind their products. I have been using their collars since the early 1980's with no problems.
Remember,You buy cheap training collars- you get junk!

Even on a large breed such as this it has plenty of stimulation. A great buy for single dog use.

Pet. Competition dog.
I haven't found anything about this collar that I don't like.
I especially like the fact that it operates on batteries that I can change myself.
My dog tended to be a bit unreliable with recalls and the collar helped to sharpen her up.

I had never used anything to train a dog before, but my new 2 yr. old pound buddy is VERY stubborn and even though he learned quickly, he felt that he would obey when he felt like it. There is nothing not to like about the G3 Sport Junior. It is very well made, and when used properly, it is an excellent, safe training tool. Now I can let him run all he wants, as he is a well trained, great dog. I highly recommend this company!

Good product overall. Replaceable batteries are a nice feature. Wish the collar had a 'tone only' which is all my dog needs. Other than that, compares well with more expensive collars. And my dogs are extremely active -- both in the woods and in the ponds...

Flashing light option is a waste of a button, plus it drains battery. Battery life in general is poor. Who wants to open a receiver to change batteries anyway?
I have several of these units and each of them feels different at the same settings...meaning they are not consistent. I have reported all of this to Tritronics who frankly, could seem to care less.
Compare the Sport Junior to the Dogtra iQ and the Tritronics comes in a very, very poor second.
The Tri-Tronics G3 Sport Junior is designed for pet owners. TriTronics has packaged the reliability and quality of their professional systems into a simple and affordable design that allows virtually anyone to effectively and easily train their companion pet or house dog.
The TriTronics Sport Junior G3 is a good choice for basic obedience training or working with a close dog off leash. The Sport Junior's waterproof collar receiver is about half the size of Tri-Tronics G3 EXP receivers. This makes it a good choice for small dogs. The built-in remote activated collar light is a great safety feature allowing you to see your dog in low light conditions. The Junior features 7 levels of continuous stimulation and 7 levels of momentary stimulation and has a 1/4 mile range. Fits up to a 25" neck.
Use the Junior with your existing Tri-Tronics system! The Tri Tronics Sport Junior G3 is designed so that both the transmitter and receiver can be married to any G2, G2 EXP or G3 Tri-Tronics system. The Junior transmitter and receiver collar are also available separately as accessories, which gives you the ability to train small dogs and continue to use your favorite G2 EXP or G3 Tri-Tronics transmitter, or add an inexpensive second transmitter to use with your existing G2, G2 EXP or G3 collar receiver.
The TriTronics Sport Jr G3 is backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee plus a two year manufacturer's warranty.

TriTronics Sport Junior G3 Overview:
The Sport Junior is easy to use and is designed for the pet owner. The handheld transmitter sends signals to the collar on your dog. There are three buttons on the Sport Junior transmitter:
The "Stim - C" button activates continuous stimulation. Continuous means that the stimulation stays on as long as you press the button. Stimulation times out automatically after eight seconds.
The "Stim - M" button activates momentary stimulation. Momentary stimulation means that the dog will feel a very quick pulse. Press and release the button in a natural fashion.
The "Light" button turns the bright red flashing collar safety lights on and off. The collar lights are handy for seeing where your dog is in low light. Use it when you take your dog for a walk in the dark.
Fasten the collar high on your dog's neck with the receiver box underneath his chin and the lights facing forward. Tighten the collar securely in place, allowing only two fingers to slip under the strap. A loose collar won't give good contact and your dog won't feel the stimulation consistently. Be sure to pull the excess strap back through the D ring. The use of the plastic keeper is optional.

Stimulation from the TriTronics Sport Junior G3
The G3 Sport Junior has multiple intensity levels, which allows you to choose the stimulation that is best for your dog.
Seven intensity levels can be quickly adjusted with the dial on the side of the transmitter. This means that you can instantly adjust intensity whenever distractions increase.
Teach basic obedience and enforce known commands with lower levels of stimulation.
Use higher levels to stop unwanted chasing or to overcome strong distractions.
7 levels of continuous stimulation and 7 levels of momentary stimulation.
TriTronics Sport Junior G3 Range
1/4 mile range, designed for basic obedience or close dogs off leash.
Maximum range is based on "line of sight." This means that to get the full range out of a system there should be nothing between the transmitter and the receiver and the terrain should be flat and open. This isn't going to happen in most places that we spend time with our dogs.
The range on all of the systems that we carry depends on training conditions, including weather, terrain, and the presence of cover.
