Tritronics SPORT 50 COLLAR -- This is the same collar that Tritronics uses on their high-end models. With the SPORT 50 you've got a high quality collar, internal antenna, stainless-steel insulated contact points. Comes with both short & long contact points so the collar will work with dogs with any type of coat.

I consider the SPORT 50 a long-term investment in a high quality piece of dog training equipment. You have a slightly larger investment on the front-end, but then you also have a collar that you can take care of and use for a very long time.

The SPORT 50 collar is of extremely high quality. It's extremely durable. It's going to handle an enormous amount of abuse. It's also waterproof.

Unlike a lot of other collars in this price range, it is repairable. What that means is that outside of your 2 year warranty you can get service from either Tritronics or other authorized repair outfits. Also, you can easily replace the collar's Ni-mH batteries after 3-5 years (unlike some other manufacturers' collars).

The SPORT 50 TRANSMITTER is made of high-density molded plastic, which is not as durable as the high-end Tri-tronics transmitters (which are mostly metal), but the SPORT 50 transmitter can handle a lot of abuse.

The SPORT 50 transmitter is water-resistant, which means it can handle rain and some splashing. It's not designed to be submerged, so don't drop it in the water (Tom!).

With heavy use, you'll be changing out your transmitter battery twice a year, but that is pretty uncommon. A year is a little more reasonable for most folks.

The transmitter has a 3" Flex Antenna and a very consistent range of a half-mile.

SPORT 50 TRANSMITTER DIAL -- I love the transmitter dial. It's very tactile. The transmitter has "positive clicks" on the stimulation dial which means you can feel the "clicks" as you change the level. I can operate one without having to take my eyes off my dog, even wearing light gloves.

SPORT 50 SAFETY FEATURE / The "N" Setting -- The Tritronics Sport 50 also has an N setting (Neutral)which is a great safety feature. You can turn on the collar and then dial the transmitter down to "0" or "N." This way if you accidentally sit down on the transmitter, you're not going to shock the dog. The dog will not receive a correction until you change the transmitter dial to the first level (½).

FREE LANYARD -- The transmitter comes with a lanyard you can wear around your neck. I find it to be a little bulky. Some folks are going to like it, but it's not the way I prefer to wear my transmitter.

SPORT HOLSTERS - There are several holster options available from Tri-tronics and other manufacturers, so you have some options.
