Lewis Dog Boots protect your dog's feet from sand burrs, rocks, and brush, and can also protect an injured foot or sore pad. These are the most durable boots we have seen to date. They are light, pliable, and very tough. Lewis Boots are made of tire tread rubber with a tread on the sole to increase the life of the boot and for non-slip traction.

Secure Lewis Dog Boots to your dog's feet with waterproof adhesive tape. Set of 4. Instructions included.

Sand Burrs Didn’t Stand A Chance
    November 14, 2023
The Kansas Pheasant opener always presents a new challenge every year. This year, ample summertime rain led to an abundance of sand burrs. Having been warned by the farmer who allows us to hunt his land, I was able to order some boots for my 22 month old GSP. This is her second season in the field with us, and she would not have been able to enjoy year 2 (nor would I) if it wasn't for the Lewis dog boots. I had no issues with these boots. I followed the instructions to a T and my dogs feet were thanking me. The boots deflected the sand burrs like they didn't exist. Pictured is my GSP's very first retrieve (also wearing her Lewis boots).
    Pros
    • Sturdy, reliable, easy to trim/fit, quick on/off

The only dog boots I will use
    February 13, 2023
I've been using Lewis dog boots for 6 years and they're the only dog boots I will use. They're extremely durable, as I'm still using some of the original boots I purchased.

I often hunt in sandy country and the grass burrs are thick. Lewis dog boots keep my dogs' feet free of burrs and allow them to perform to their full potential. I highly recommend this product.

Watch the video that Steve Snell made on how to put the boots on your dog. If you'll follow his advice these boots will stay on your dog all day. Also follow the sizing guide on the Gun Dog Supply website to properly fit your dog(s).

    • Excellent fit
    • Easy to put on and take off
    • Stay on your dog when properly applied

I hunt in the Arizona desert where everything wants to stick you, sting you, or bite you. These boots work excellent at keeping cactus needles out of your dogs paws. Josie got used to them in a matter of minutes and they really protect her from many of the nasties Arizona deserts have to offer.
I did have to extend the side slits slightly to get over her large from paws however the extended slits did not alter the boot protection. Keeping the boots on requires a little practice with duct tape but easy to master. Always carry a spare though just in case.

    Pros
    • Good protection against cactus needles, broken glass, sharp objects.
    Cons
    • Require some practice to keep them secured on the dogs feet.

    Fantastic quality
    November 14, 2022
I have spent hundreds of $$ over the past few years trying to find a boot that my dog can run in when I run her on my bike. Every set I bought either rubbed her feet raw from the fabric uppers, fell apart or fell off. These boots are top notch. My only complaint is the need to tape them on. I wasn't going to do that every time I ran her, so I added Velcro straps. I still give these 5 stars due to the quality and fit, and they work exactly as advertised and designed. I just had to modify them for my needs. **Note the heavy-duty rubber does not stick to ANYTHING. I tried Superglue, Hot glue and epoxy to attach the straps but the only thing that kept them attached was super glue reinforced by sewing them to the boot.
Hopefully Lewis makes a version with straps some day.
    Pros
    • high grade rubber, does not chafe the dogs skin
    Cons
    • needs to taped on or modified with straps to stay on

    Lewis dog boots
    January 12, 2022
I have used Lewis dog boots this entire pheasant hunting season and have been very pleased. My dog had paw injuries the last 2 years that required surgery for removal of foreign bodies and ended our seasons early. This year no problems. She runs well with them on and lets me put them on readily. Very pleased. Put them on just as demonstrated in the video and they will stay on. Only time I lost a boot was in the snow due to the wetness. Might benefit from an extra layer of tape if hunting in snow.

Still working out the execution but great protection!
    December 21, 2021
I purchased these for running my springers in rougher cover like cattails and near barb wire after my older girl got a decent sized slice in the top of one of her toes. I initially tried the sticky side out gorilla tape with gorilla tape on the outside but found it was too much work to get them off and then get the tape out of the boots when we were done. I have since switched to prewrap on their legs and then gorilla taping to that but it's been difficult getting the tape to wrap their ankles smoothly without puckering. I may try some other tapes to see if it will smooth out but after running them several days in these boots in nasty cover they came out with perfect paws and no sore feet so we're all happy about that.

One thing I would say is that washing the boots according to the directions from Lewis increases the gorilla tape adhesion to an almost unnecessary level making the tape impossible to remove. I left one pair unwashed and the tape sticks well but then actually pulls off the rubber once we're done.

I also carry a pair of bandage scissors in my pup first aid kit which makes removal from their paws super easy. I haven't left them on for a whole day as it's not too bad getting the girls to stand and install and I don't want them having trench foot conditions in there. Their paws have been wet every time we get done with a field so I remove to make sure they get a chance to dry. Just something to keep an eye on.
    Pros
    • Protects the pups paws very well.

    December 13, 2021
These boots are perfect for protecting my chukar dog, GSP's, front feet. I use them on every hunt -- 19 days so far this year.
    Pros
    • They stay on and don't cause any irritation or sores. Be sure to use Gorilla duct tape.
    Cons
    • I trim the back part so that it just reaches the carpal pad. I also round the front and as well as using a hole punch to round off the openings at the bottom of the seams on both sides.

    An excellent boot for hunting
    February 1, 2021
I am glad I purchased these boots for my GSP. Whether hunting in fields layered in burrs & stickers or cacti plants, my dog just keeps going. I have had been using the same boots for the past 2 years with my dog putting over 200 miles on them and they still have tread remaining on them. They are a bit of work to put on, but once on, they stay on and the dog will run all day in them.
    Pros
    • Good, thick rubber that keeps most stickers and thorns from going through the boot and boot doesn't wear out quickly.
    Cons
    • Need to use (duct) tape to fasten boots securely.

Good right boot that stays on
    January 20, 2021
With a proper under-tape, boot, then over-tape the Lewis boot will stay on your hunting dogs foot. This can't be said for really any other commercial boot I've tried. Tough and fairly cheap this boot checks all the boxes. If hunting in snow frequently, choose the unvented boot because the vented boot will pack up with snow pretty fast. The boot's traction can be an small issue on certain wet/hard/icy surfaces.
    Pros
    • Tough
    • Affordable
    • Stays on the foot
    Cons
    • Traction can be poor on slippery surfaces

    Saved my Chukar hunt
    October 22, 2024
Long story, short if you're headed to the Chukar hills buy these. If you 'think' your dogs feet are properly conditioned buy these. You never know. After two runs my girls feet were spent... Strapped the boots on and got a couple more days of hunting done.
    Pros
    • Extended our hunting days
    Cons
    • Pain in the but to put on. Use vet wrap as a BASE layer as opposed to duct tape. Be sure to cut front boots for carpal pad properly.

Solid sturdy dog Boot however difficult to attach to dogs feet
    January 30, 2024
This is the second set of dog boots from Lewis, the first was a set of vented boots that were given to me, I attached the boots as instructed by the online video instructions and the first hunt lost one of the boots. I mistakenly used the vented boots in ice and snow and soon learned the boot filled up with snow, dirt etc. The boots were also very tight on the top making them quite difficult to put on my dog.

I then ordered the non vented boots and found them again to be quite difficult to get on the dogs foot. I used the dog boots for one hunt and while they did stay on his feet, he seemed to develop a slight limp on one of his feet. I am not sure why, but actually wondered if the boot could be pressing on his nails and causing discomfort. I know that dog boots are something that we need sometimes, it just appears to me given the structure of the dogs foot, it is something that can be difficult and may just be how it is.

    • Very sturdy

These boots are fantastic for protecting paws in the field. With some elastikon and duct tape, they stay on much better than any type of velcro boot. Special thanks to Gun Dog Supply for overnighting a pair to me and saving my Thanksgiving hunt!

    An Absolute Necessity!
    November 15, 2023
Wyatt significantly injured his pads on opening day in Northern NV. Injured to the extent he wasn't able to walk for ~2.5 days and hobbled around for the next 1.5 weeks. This lead me to purchasing these Lewis boots. We hunted the same spot 3 weeks later with the boots on and he left unscathed and in high spirits. If you're hunting in rocky/shale covered areas, these are a must.

These boots may have saved my dogs leg from being amputated
    February 21, 2023
My English cocker developed an infection in one of his hind paws, we have struggled with the infected paw over a year, with several high dollar antibodies, several vets and one vet suggested amputation, so we went to one last vet to get a last opinion and he suggested one final antibody that had not been available and boot the dog before letting him out, so far, I am hopeful. the paw seems to be healing because of the protection provided by the boots and the new medication.

My dog didn't care about having them on
    February 15, 2023
Haven't figured out how to keep them on yet. He runs right out of the front boots, no problem with the backs. Will be trying different tape.
    Pros
    • They fit him good. Straight line speed is unchanged.
    Cons
    • Maybe next design they should have more side to side grip. I think a 1/4" ridge on the bottom would help a lot with the dog trying to cut/change direction. He seems to slip a lot when switching directions.
