HOW TO MEASURE YOUR DOG FOR A NEOPRENE DOG VESTIt's really important to get the correct fit for your vest. We want it snug on the dog's chest so that it retains body heat while your dog's in the water, but not so tight that it makes running or swimming difficult.HOW TO MEASURE -- To measure your dog you are going to need either a seamstress tape or you can use any sort of piece of string, something you can wrap around the dog and then measure it with a tape measure, or you can even use a leash to get the correct measurement and then measure that off with a tape measure. MEASURE ON A TABLE -- I like to measure the dog standing up on a table. This way I'm standing up, I'm comfortable, and I've got the dog where I can position him correctly. There are two measurements you need when you are sizing your dog for a vest: the chest measurement and then the neck measurement. NECK MEASUREMENT -- The neck measurement is taken lower on the dog's neck than you would measure for a dog collar. A dog collar sits more toward the middle or higher up on the neck, but the vest doesn't go up that high, so take the measurement lower on the neck -- a little bit above the shoulders. CHEST MEASUREMENT -- Have your dog stand. The chest measurement is taken from the deepest part of the chest -- typically closer to behind the front legs. Remember, when you're measuring your dog, the most important size is the chest measurement. It's got to fit the chest tight. Everything else you can cut around, but if you're too small in the chest, you're not gonna be able to put it on your dog. If the neck measurement is off a little bit, you can trim it down to size. GET YOUR DOG ACCUSTOMED TO THE VESTYou want to fit your dog's vest, and get them used to wearing it while training and working and swimming long before the opening day of the season. Give your dog plenty of time to move around in it, swim in it, sit on a stand or ladder, retrieve a few dummies, and just get used to it.A neoprene vest is just more gear that they're going to be using while we're duck hunting, so just like any other training, give them plenty of time in the vest BEFORE hunting. WHAT IF YOU NEED A VEST NOW AND YOU'RE NOT SURE ABOUT THE SIZE?Some folks wait until the last minute, and realize they need it now! If you're in a hurry, or if it's late season and it's close to the time that you're gonna need a new vest, the last thing you want to do is get to the duck hole only to find that your new vest doesn't fit.Say you're in between sizes, or just not confident which size your dog really needs, then you may want to order two and try them both out. Return the one that doesn't fit. You only pay return shipping for the vest that didn't fit. If you order a vest that doesn't fit correctly, we will be glad to take it back or do an exchange for you. It's okay that you put it on the dog, but please don't cut or customize it.

Great Vest!

Mojo is 62 lbs and the Large fits perfect. The large zipper is easy to use even In gloves. No cutting was required. In addition, the large handle helps me pick him up onto the dog stand and truck. Overall, great vest and it keeps Mojo warm!

Excellent product

I ordered this for my 7 month old lab. It if her very well and it must have been comfortable as she didn't seem to mind wearing it at all! We took her out on our boat fishing with us and when she jumped in, the handle provided me with an easy way to assist her back on the boat.
I am excited to see how it performs hunting ducks this fall. Pros

Bought 3 different vest at same time as old vests had worn out. The Rig Em Right Bloodline Elite was my favorite. And Nelli's favorite too!

Best vest I have found for my drahthaar
November 23, 2021
Best vest I have found for my dog. He's a drahthaar so most of the vests don't fit him very well. But this one fit perfectly. Also he swims with his back end a little low in the water not very graceful, but this vest has enough floatation to keep his back stright, which makes me feel more comfortable when he is on long retrieves on big water.

Great Duck Hunting Vest
December 26, 2020
Vest was very well made. It doesn't restrict our dogs movement at all. It helps our dog stay warm during a cold duck hunt. She is happy to put the vest on.

Doesn't seem to fit very well and the handle is dangerous
December 22, 2020
The handle hangs up on brush and branches. Poses a real danger to the dog. Also the loose fit around the dog's waste means it provides little insulation value.

I had some issues with the fitting of other brand dog vest. This one is a perfect fit for my dog with no trimming at all. Definitely worth the money.

Great vest for your dog
December 19, 2020
I purchased this vest for my bird hunting black and tan hound for 2 reasons - protection and warmth. Having used it many times already I can say that if has fit the bill on both fronts. Tough vest with pretty useful front coverage for the dog when working in heavy brush areas. Enough total body coverage to keep his very short haired body warm in 0-20f temps and with snow down. Most importantly the vest does not appear to bother him very much (others I have tried have made him uncomfortable) and he just keeps bird dogging. Now he just steps into the vest when its go time. In summary, very good useful vest.

Nice Vest

I ordered this for my Male GSP to wear to go to South Dakota to help keep him warm. As we had a buddy that uses this exact vest with our male's littermate and he stated that it fit her like a glove. The Vest fits well for him and we love the vest but I was a little disappointed that it did not get here before they had to leave. So we had the vest for over a week before we were able to try it on him. I have ordered collars that are personalized that came faster than this item did. This is the reason why I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5.

I have tried three other major brands of vests, and this product fits best,, is constructed best, and is strong. Congratulations on a winner. My Lab Beretta thanks you too.
