The watch bypasses the sound problem entirely. You feel it. Cold-weather hunters -- Wearing four layers? Handheld stuffed in a vest pocket? The odds of feeling a single vibration through all that aren't great. The watch is on your wrist, right against your skin. Grouse hunters and tight-cover hunters -- Keep your handheld in your vest, your offhand free, and your attention on the cover. When the dog points, your wrist tells you. The Instinct E supports up to 20 dogs through an Alpha unit. You don't have to be in the dog screen to get alerts -- notifications come through on any watch face. And you can navigate to the dog right from the wrist: direction, distance, done. --- HOW IT WORKS (IMPORTANT): The watch receives data from your handheld -- it's not independently tracking your dog. Your handheld needs to be on your body (vest, pocket, wherever you carry it). You don't have to hold it or look at it. You just need to be within range. One watch connects to one handheld. Multiple watches can share the same handheld. Switching handhelds requires removing the old connection first.
