My dog rolled (collar first) in a dead/decaying fish. I had to submerse and thoroughly scrub the collar many times. It is truly waterproof! Great collar at any price.
The SD 800 is one of my favorite collars in the under $200 price range. It's a really versatile system and gives you great range for the money.
The 800 size transmitter is also my favorite in the SportDOG line. It fits all size hands and has a GREAT transmitter dial.

By: Joe P.We have an adopted 2 year old White Shepherd (Hatch), he is an amazing & obedient dog (when there are no distractions), and a true family member. We originally bought a training collar from Petco. It broke three times in 6 months, the buttons would get stuck, there was a delay in sending the correction to the collar (which is essential in correcting bad behavior), it was splash proof (Hatch loves the water and we always had to take it off if we were around water). We ended up getting rid of the old collar (even though it had a lifetime warranty) and buying this one, the SD-800.
We were debating between the SD-400 and SD-800, but because Hatch loves the woods, and water we felt it would be better to spend a little extra money to get something that exceeded our range (1/2 mile). I am so happy with this purchase, words cannot even sum it up. Here are a few things that I really like about the collar over the Petco special:
-Completely water proof (essential with a water dog)
-Very very durable transmitter and collar
-Rechargeable
-Multiple Modes (We use MODE 1 on walks and MODE 3 when he is off leash)
-The 1/2 mile range is probably only 1/2 mile by line of site, but in the woods or water when the range diminishes, we are still within range.
-The correction from the remote to the collar is much much quicker than the old unit we had (I tried it on myself)
Overall our stress level when Hatch is off leash or in crowded public areas has diminished and our confidence in him has increased tremendously with the knowledge we have much more control. This confidence has also spread to Hatch, he is molding into a much more confident dog.
The only regret I have is wasting $120 on that Petco collar.

This collar has been awesome. Especially given that he is in the water a lot! Recently the collar wouldn't turn off properly and when I contacted Sport Dog to consult about the problem or to see if I needed a new battery they informed me that it wasn't the battery but that they would send out a new reciever for only $45!! This is their policy even when the collar is out of warranty as this one is. A new battery would have cost close to that much. I am so impressed with Sport Dog, their products, and am so happy that you carry such great products!
The SD-800 "Sport Hunter" is an incredibly versatile training collar and a good choice for all-around use. The SD 800 is a longer range version of the popular SD 400. It has all of the features of the SD 400 but uses a slightly larger
transmitter with a more powerful antenna for longer range. The SD 800 is a 1/2 mile system compared to the 400 yard (1/4 mile) SD-400. Fits up to a 23" Neck!

The "Sport Hunter" SD-800 has multiple intensity levels, which allows
you to choose the stimulation that is best for your dog. Eight
intensity levels can be quickly adjusted with the dial on the side of
the transmitter. This means that you can instantly adjust intensity
whenever distractions increase.
Teach yard work/obedience and enforce known commands with lower levels
