Place bird in cover and allow dog(s) to approach. Once dog is on point, and backing dogs have settled, have an assistant wave the bird once or twice and toss it into the air to force it to fly. Pigeon should fly a short distance but tire quickly because of the weight of the hobble. If you have a strong flier you can secure additional weight using the holes in the opposite end of the hobble.

Perfect Tool in Your Toolbox

As we train our bird dogs, we need multiple tools for various training scenarios. The pigeon hobble is easy to use. The weight of the hose worked perfect for strong flying homers giving my dog the opportunity to get excited seeing the bird and the bird having just the right weight to hold it back but allow some movement. Highly recommend this low cost tool!

The plastic string is too stiff and comes off the birds feed when they are released after the dog points to it. The string needs to be more flexible and stay tight.
