Our dog is more responsive to the longer points. I feel better not having to tighten the collar as much now so that the dog is more comfortable all day as well as responsive to training.

Product picture shows all stainless, but the hex area is black rubber-like stuff. Doesn't matter that I can tell. The 1 inch contacts were VERY long once I installed them and looked at them. I returned them in exchange for 3/4 inch, which turned out to be just what I wanted. Very easy exchange.
