    The Dogtra PLD Pheasant Launcher allows you to easily adjust for a very quiet launch or to throw birds higher. These launchers are a great tool for helping you train your dog to stop at the sight of a bird flying up from cover instead of chasing it.

    Dogtra's RR Deluxe electronic remote release system features two sound modes: authentic Mallard duck-call attention getter or a beep-locater sound. The Dogtra RR Deluxe will run up to eight different receivers off one transmitter, and each receiver can operate two launchers with the use of a 15 foot jumper cord (not included), giving you control of up to a total of 16 launchers! In addition to Dogtra launchers, the Dogtra RR Deluxe is compatible with Thunder Equipment, Zinger Winger, Etch-Marc, and most other after-market bird / bumper launcher systems. The remote release system has 1,000 yard range. The attention-getter sound has a 100 yard range (range may vary with weather conditions).

    Uses long lasting rechargeable Ni-Mh batteries (charger included) with 3 color battery life indicator. Transmitter is waterproof, and receivers are water resistant.

    Dogtra Remote launcher

    Replaced an old unit with this new version. I use this as much or more for training/conditioning my falcons than I do as a training aid for my English Setters. Being able to remotely launch pigeons or pheasant a long distance from me more closely duplicates hunting wild quarry and helps to keep the falcon from looking to me for these opportunities. There’s no substitute for wild quarry but when a young falcon needs confidence or an old one conditioning after the off-season, I find this device priceless. Of course I also do use the launcher with any new puppies I’m starting and I find it a valuable training aid as they mature.
    Pros
    • I like the rechargeable batteries now included in both the launcher and in the remote control. The unit is very new to me still but it appears the batteries last much longer especially in the launcher. The springs are adjustable and allow a stronger or weaker release. When set at their stronger position this will launch a bird with much greater force which I find helpful to inspire a pheasant to really fly harder once launched; important for the falcons to believe as best as possible they are being exposed to ?wild?, hard flying birds. A tone or a "quacking" can loudly be added with the push of a button during launching which seems to add more incentive to a pheasant to fly stronger and focuses the falcons attention to the flushing bird. I would think it also adds another level of excitement for either a retrieving or pointing dog, duplicating some of the added ?chaos? of wild birds and hunting scenarios. Smooth, clean operation of moving parts, and well designed and built.
    Cons
    • I liked the rear-entry door available on the old version of the pheasant launcher. A bird could be placed into the unit through a hinged door when in the "ready" or set position. I modified the old unit slightly so the long tail of a hen and especially a rooster pheasant could exit the holding area without getting pinched during the launching procedure and also protect the feather quality. I was disappointed this feature was omitted.

    Homers from racing lines can be big - and wanted to have room to throw a pheasant as well so went with the PL. My birds would fit in the QL - but it was really snug on a few of my birds. Its durable and put together well. With the correct charge - it has all the range I need, tbough I have a close working young dog. Shipped fast, and was comparable in price to the other outlets. Plan on using it for falconry as well, so we'll see how it does in the Montana winter at WAY below zero.

    Great Dummy and Live Bird Launcher

    Bought the Dogtra Remote Pheasant Launcher primarily to enable working with my German Wirehaired Pointer at home using bird dummies and starter pistol. Really helping to get him to stay on point through the shot; aka, Steady to Shot.

    • Easy to load dummies and adjust the height of the launch via the adjustable springs. Also very quiet so it doesn't spook the dog.
