This combo works as it should. It's a great do it all collar that is great for training and tracking.
    Pros
    • It's a buy one and done product as it does Training and tracking.
    Cons
    • May need some updates out of the box, but, it's as simple as plugging it in.

Garmin Alpha 100 and TT15 Collar
    January 28, 2022
I'm incredibly pleased with this product! The GPS offers peace of mind as to the whereabouts of your dog as well as accuracy for the hunt and the fact that training capabilities are combined in this package make it an excellent multipurpose choice. I have no complaints or concerns, I really enjoy the results of this combo every time I use it. Also, the service was incredibly fast and Gun Dog Supply even called me to let me know they had shipped. From date of purchase to having the products in hand was less than a week!
    Pros
    • Tracking and training capabilities
    • Easy to program and use
    • Intuitive
    • High quality
    • Easy to charge
    Cons
    • None so far

    Alpha 100
    January 12, 2022
I have used the Alpha 100 for 3 years. I like it because it's easy to track and train the dogs. The battery lasts all day. I always charge after a full day to be sure. I have tried the Alpha 200, but found myself going back to the 100. I use this Garmin with mini tt15 collars and they have worked well together. I never hunt or train without them!
    Pros
    • Easy to use.
    • Long battery.
    • Multiple training modes.
    Cons
    • Sometimes I have to pair the collars with the 100 again.
    • Way more function then I need.

    Trail running Weim bros
    January 19, 2024
With 2 large Weims (90 lbs and 80 lbs) who love to spend time with me on the trails, I purchased the Garmin Alpha 100 + TT15X GPS tracking e collar combo. The product allows me to keep them close to me while out on the trails off leash, and they respond very well. They are happy boys when we spend hours on the trails! Gun Dog Supply was the most responsive with my order and it arrived just as ordered...no issues and easy to get set up. Thanks!
    Pros
    • good battery life; ability to have multiple dogs on 1 handheld; connects to my Garmin smartwatch as well; my Weims respond well and I'm able to track them when they go off the trail; the e command helps to keep them under control especially as other dogs and runners/hikers approach; my wife loves that she can handle their strength with the e collars on
    Cons
    • Periodically, I have to pull the battery and put back in as the handheld seems to freeze. It doesn't happen in the field, however. It hasn't caused any issues but figured I'd note it.

    Might just be me
    November 21, 2023
So far I have tried this on my dog 6 times. The tone works but doesn't get louder, vibrates, doesn't shock no matter the level. My friends use these and love them mine just might be defective or I'm an idiot and don't know how to use it.
    Cons
    • Pretty much everything

Going to take some getting used to
    November 19, 2023
My biggest beef is the touch screen. You have to go through to many screens to find truck location. Then the arow is way to small to see without glasses. The Astro 320 was better to quickly find the truck location. So far the hand held doesn't last as advertised. Collar does last as advertised.
    Pros
    • Bright screen, good for Southern AZ. Point sound is good. All of the different chargers are very good for all situations. Belt clip is OK but it has come off my belt twice. I will find a better solution.
    Cons
    • Touch screen with gloves, not great. Most of the time I have to remove gloves, even when they are touch screen able. Have to travel through to many screens at times. Arrow for finding truck is tiny. I have to use readers for most operations. That makes it hard to visually follow my dog,

    Great collar
    January 10, 2023
Has everything you need. Tells you where your dog is. How far away, which direction he is, if he is on point. I like that it tells you the dogs stats. I was shocked to see my dog ran 16 miles my last hunt. I am mostly glad it has the vibrate feature to get my dogs attention. Then I only need to use the shock if he does something bad. Definitely the best collar I've ever seen.
    Pros
    • Has all the features I want
    Cons
    • Hard to understand all the features. Luckily I can Google whatever I need to learn.

    Sophisticated and Bulletproof
    May 18, 2022
I've been buying and using training collars since Tri-tronics was a standalone product. I've also depended on Garmin GPS products nearly as long. The merger of these two great companies has given dog owners the best of both worlds. More recently, I've owned both Dogtra and SportDog collars. Both brands have their strong points and weaknesses. The Alpha 100 and TT15X are a big step up. The construction is heavy duty, the daily compass calibration is quick and easy, the collar-handheld range is way beyond any distance I will ever need, and I appreciate the collar's strobe lights that allow me to keep track of my dog in my large pasture at night. I no longer need occasionally to shock my hunting dog in the field because the vibration function is strong enough to get his attention. There's also a tone option. Updates are simple: Download the app, plug the units in and follow directions.I have mounted the short antennas on both the collar and handheld. As a partial test of the effective range between them I left the collar on a table and drove away with the handheld. They were still communicating with more than two miles between them. There is also a longer set of antennas included in the package. The handheld is feature rich with as many functions as any GPS user could ask. I have little or no use for many of those options, but found it easy to set up an initial waypoint (to find my way back to my truck), played with the option to record my dog's actual tracks on the hunt and, most importantly to me, set up two different displays to keep track of him in the field and to alert me when he's on point. When I visit my rural property for an extended stay, I routinely keep the collar on my dog as insurance that I won't lose him. The batteries have been reliable from dawn to dark before needing a charge.I've had the unit only a week or so and am still discovering new features. What I haven't found are any negatives. I do wish, though, that the "on point" alert remained longer on the display. When un-packing and inventorying the package I found the Y-adapter was missing. Gun Dog Supply sent a replacement cable the same day.EDIT: After six months of use, I can confirm my initial review with the following exceptions:1. After performing a software update, all the handheld data fields disappeared. My call to Garmin's support team confirmed that this "hiccup" had been seen previously; the remedy was to do a hard reset, after which the handheld had to be setup from the factory settings all over again.2. The handheld was on a lanyard around my neck when the display swung into the side of my vehicle, resulting in a very small impact mark on the screen. Afterwards, the display remained frozen and the unit was unresponsive. Garmin had me send it in as a swap for a used (re-certified) replacement at a cost of $200+. So, I'm deleting "...Bulletproof" from my review heading. I now have a protective screen cover installed on it.It's still a 5-star product; just fix the updating glitch and recommend a protective screen cover.

    Quality Product!
    December 24, 2021
I've used a Dogtra Pathfinder in the past because I am not rich and figured it was enough for what I needed. One day, it wasn't connecting while out on a hunt with a friend. I borrowed a spare TT15 collar and hooked my dog up to their Garmin Alpha, and after that day decided to bite the bullet and buy my own system. Incredibly easy to set up, it connects to GPS much quicker, more accurate tracking, battery life is great, and most importantly it doesn't need to run off my phone.

    Are You Tech Savy?
    December 3, 2021
As with just about every feature-filled electronic device, it takes time to understand and learn how to operate the equipment. I haven't ever read a technical manual geared toward the average person's level of technological knowledge. This device is no different. It's a complicated and powerful piece of equipment. It functions flawlessly and is the second Garmin product I've owned. Don't hesitate to call Steve and his staff if you have any questions!

    Garmin Alpha 100 for pointers
    October 31, 2021
Purchased this product to for upland bird hunting in Woodcock and grouse cover in Vermont and New Hampshire with my Wire hair. Also for pheasant and quail hunting during the winter months in Oklahoma and Kansas. Takes away the worry of where my dog is in reference to roads . In new covers the map is most helpful in locating terrain and locating rivers for guiding best areas and routes to take while hunting.
    Pros
    • Exceptional accuracy in heavy cover. Terrain and map visuals are outstanding. Directions for set up are clear and concise.
    Cons
    • On point sound or vibrate indication is too brief. Does not always alert when I can see dog is on point. I still need to use beeper collar to indicate dog pointing.

Good quality. Locates the satellites fast. I was concerned that the interface would be complicated, but after initial set up its not really any more difficult to use than the Pro550.My setter got away from me a couple of times which scared me to the point of getting the GPS collar. He's much happier now because I'm more comfortable letting him range without calling him back.

Bought this for my FBECS when he gets into thick cover out of site and for the extreme remote areas that hold the grouse and woodcock he's after. Simple to use and setup, very intuitive and the initial training sessions with it have been great. I bought this for my daughter's dog. I have had these for 2 years for my dogs. Often you can't see dogs in the woods even though they are close by. This let's you know where they are. Also nice to have if you bush whack. You will never get lost. You can also use for geocaching.

    I love it
    June 29, 2021
I tossed around the idea of getting this for a few months before I actually did and even though the price tag stings at first, I'm really glad I made the leap. They connect quickly and easily without any issues and I love all the features of the handheld. Keeping training records of my dog are really easy. Time, distance and average speed are all quickly accessed. It's great for seeing exactly how hard my pup is working and I get a much better feel for when to give her a rest day or two. Lots of options for stimulation level and it's a snap to change on the fly. The pointing/treed alerts are great and have worked every time, I'm yet to get a false alert when she just pauses before getting back at it. Like all the alerts there is an option for beep, vibrate, both or off making it all truly customizable. The bag it comes with is excellent, it really shows Garmin was thinking ahead when they made it. Tons of storage for all the charging cords and dang near anything else I want. A towel, booties, dog first aid kit, water bottles, kibble/treats (in a container), harness and there's still room for several other collars and handhelds. Genius. I have no regrets about this and would buy again in a heartbeat. And of course Gun Dog Supply ships out fast and customer service is above and beyond.

    could be better.
    Pros
    • It has enabled me to train too bright, active rescue bird dogs who had not been trained. Could not have done it without the Alpha 100 system. Thank you!
    Cons
    • The charging plug is clumsy, partially blocked by the waterproofing cover, and easily broken. $200. Twice.
    • There is no way to attach a lanyard. The only attachments provided are on the battery cover, which is easily removed. You could come out of the brush with an $800 battery cover.

VERY poorly designed and made. It is not durable
    June 6, 2021
I've had the Alpha 100 for almost three years. The screen lasts about a year and then dies. After sending mine back to Garmin twice and PAYING them to replace it, the third one just died so the entire 3 dog system I have is now useless. Garmin does not stand behind their product and they've wasted more than $1000 of my money. Even when the system was functional it was horribly designed. The touch screen on any field unit is a horrible idea. The collars are also falling apart.

    Set-Up Difficult
    December 26, 2020
I think I will ultimately be happy with the Garmin Alpha 100/TT15, but not without a lot of initial grief. I've spent a couple of long evenings preparing the physical and electronic component features of the collar and transmitter, and two days in the field and 3-4 hours on YouTube trying to figure out the system. The instruction booklet is extremely difficult to read and is incomplete. The diagrams and print are very small and the labeling is imprecise. The booklet should have larger diagrams and detailed step-by-step instructions. The first day in the field, three of us struggled for an hour to get the transmitter to follow the dog collar. Then someone mistakenly entered a way point that linked to the transmitter. The transmitter was no longer following the dog. After hunting a corn field and risking losing my dog, I had to clear everything out and start all over. The second time hunting, the GPS linkage finally worked OK. I rigged up a lanyard to carry the transmitter around my neck. (The instructions said there is a lanyard connection, but no instructions. My previous e-collars contained a lanyard attached to the transmitter, the Garmin did not). Every time I let the transmitter hang on my neck, the touchscreen would inadvertently contact my call-whistle, or a button, or my shirt, or chest, and open another function. Sometimes it would open an entry screen and each touch would enter a different letter or character. Then, every time I tried to located the dog, I had to undo the inadvertent touchscreen entries. After returning home, and watching a YouTube troubleshooting video, I discovered how to lock the screen. Even after locking the screen, when there is an inadvertent touch, I still have to back out of the entry denial screen to locate the dog. These are significant distractions from hunting. It would be nice if the transmitter would just stay on the GPS compass locator when selected. As stated in the beginning, maybe when I get past the learning curve, I will be satisfied. Too early to tell.
