Garmin PRO 550 Replacement Remote Transmitter Only

This is the third transmitter I have had. What I really like about this one is that the holster does not have to be removed for recharging! Great!

Excellent piece of equipment. Very durable - it has been dropped several times & chewed on by 5 month old GSP without adversity.

I have an Astro330 unit that I use to track my dogs. I hunt in appalachia and it is not as important here as it is up north in that here I can keep track of them in the hollows. In quail ground where weeds are high enough to lose a dog it also comes in handy. I bought the Pro 550 for future training purposes and for the ease of set up and use. I am a technological throwback and on the Astro if I get out of my comfort zone I get lost. The Pro 550 is much easier to use for someone who dislikes all the added navigation channels. This is my second Pro 550. I have six English Setters and usually hunt 2-3 at a time. The older three are getting deaf so tracking them is of paramount importance.

Well constructed and durable. It is nice that it works on multiple collars too and is multi functional. One downside are the small switches which are hard to utilize when wearing thick gloves. An additional concern is that when walking in thick cover the switches can be moved to a new location so that the signal the transmitter is sending is going to the wrong collar. The above critiques aside the transmitter and collars work well, are durable, maintain a charge, and have excellent coverage. I would buy again.

The transmitter and collars work fine. I do not like th 3/4 inch bs strap. If i had know about that before I ordered the original I would not have bought the combo. I do like you gun do supply holder except I wish it was in bright orange and the current model makes it harder to see the controls and know what power the transmitter is set on.

Garmin electronic systems are a game changer. I can let the dogs run hundreds of yards away but call them back with a gentle reminder. The levels of stimulation are appropriate. As long as the collars is tight enough to make good contact, I never need to go over 4. The transmitter has been dropped numerous times and survived. Only thing I would like is not to have to switch between collars- I'd like a button for each collar- since I always have both dogs with me.

Reliable product. Great to train your dog. Single product which could save you dogs live and will allow train any behavior which requires negative reinforcement. I lost bunch of remotes. I was a huge Tri-Tronics fan and was a bit worried when Garmin bought them out. My worries were unfounded. Sure, it's plastic and not knurled aluminum but it's very sturdy. I wrap mine with yellow electrical tape just in case I drop it in the field. Guess I need to attach a beeper collar to it. Yep, dropped it and couldn't find it in a 30 acre field. So if you drop yours, back over it with your truck, your dog chews it up, or you drop it in the water while retriever training, you can buy this replacement transmitter. I know the new model has GPS tracking ability, but I don't need that so I love the PRO 550.

I've used this for my dog in the fields and around the trails nearby house for the last 2 years. Its easy to use, charges fast and will hold a charge for ~1 week. People even commented how cool the USB light is on the collar. The handle is a little large, which I like but may not be for everyone. Only reason I had to buy another one, is I left it on my truck during my last trip and never saw it again. Expensive mistake, but enjoy it so much I bought the same one again.

Changed to PRO 550 for ease of operation, however, toggles are easily changed unintentionally. Kept with Garmin because of the collars. May reconsider in the future and purchase Dogtra, although all collars will need replacement as well. Attached is picture of Deutsch Langhaars, mother (sitting) and son (standing).

It is great. I have 2 so I can hunt with my son in law or we can hunt two areas and control the dogs.

Your company is top, but... I have to order from Europe. Since I have a wonderful friend, who is willing to ship to Europe, I am able to order from your company. So many trainers here look for your equipment, and collars dummies bumpers and so on. How do we get it here in Europe?? Regards, Henny.

Lost transmitter. Very nice to be able to find replacement at a reasonable price.

I have 2 1-year old Rottweiler puppies, 110 and 90 pounds, and both are stubborn when they want to be. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!! I brought it with the thought that I needed to protect my wife after the puppies pulled her on the ground. We have been using the collar for just over a month now. It makes a huge difference. I use the Tone and Vibration 90-95% of the time and get great results. A high 3 of 7 is as high as I have had to go, and it was when they were trying to chase after a deer across the road. I would and have recommend this product to everyone I can. What I actually love even more is Gun Dog Supply. If you want the best reviews and customer service out there, this is a one stop shop!
