Lightning Protector Setup:

Just as lightning strikes can impact your computer or home electronics, the current surges associated with lightning can also negatively impact your electronic pet containment system if you have one.

Even if the strike occurs within one to two miles to your home, it can still cause damage to your system. To remedy this, we have developed a lightning protector, and it is just as important as any other surge protector that you use with your home electronics. It is really easy to install and this video will walk you through how to do it.

We are going to use this transmitter to demonstrate. Now yours may be a little different, but the lightning protector that we have developed works with all of our systems. Let's get started.

Begin by unplugging your transmitter. Tape your outlet cover into place. Now remove the outlet cover's center screw. Now when your lightning protector comes to you it has a couple of plastic coverings that are designed to protect the unit. You will want to remove these. There is one on the screw and one on the actual plugs.

So take these off. Take out the screw and plug the unit in. Now using the screw provided with your lightning protector, screw the lightning protector into place. Once you have screwed your lightning protector into place, you can remove the tape from your outlet cover.

Now measure the distance between your transmitter and your lightning cover. You want to cut two lengths of wire that are that same measurement. Remove about an inch of coating from the end of each wire. Plug one end of each of the wires into the transmitter terminals on your lightning protector.

Twist these two pieces of wire together 10-12 times per foot as you would a bread tie. So once you have finished twisting your wire, make sure that they twisted wire will reach your transmitter, and it will.

Now remove the boundary wire from the boundary wire terminals in your transmitter. Now take your boundary wires and insert these into the terminals in your lightning protector.

Once you have done this, you will want to connect your lighting protector and your transmitter to each other using the wire that you twisted. Take the ends of this wire and put them into the boundary wire terminals.

Now you are ready to plug in your transmitter and you are finished. Your boundary wire that is buried in your yard and your transmitter are now both protected from lightning strikes.
