The Lucky Launcher II Set includes:

  • Lucky Launcher II dummy launcher
  • 1 white canvas dummy
  • 1 box of 100 medium loads

Combines the sound of the shot with the flight of the dummy. The Lucky Launcher II permits one-handed operation so that one hand is available for training. All of the Retriev-R-Trainer dummies are compatible with the Lucky Launcher II System as well as the Retriev-R-Trainer launcher. Uses the same dummy launcher loads as our other dummy launchers.

    Features:
  • Orange and black color scheme
  • Pistol-grip
  • Removable rubber covered metal stock
  • Fire 1-handed from the shoulder or thigh

  • NOTE: When training on water, make sure the launch tube in each dummy is dry before re-launching. If water is in the launch tube when the dummy is placed on the launcher, it can enter the firing port, drowning the load and causing a misfire. We recommend having multiple dummies available so the wet ones can dry between launches.

    Manufacturer Warranty:

The Lucky Launcher II is guaranteed by the manufacturer to be free of defective workmanship and materials for a period of THREE YEARS FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE. This guarantee is void if other than the recommended power charges are used or if the product is not used in conformance with its instructions.

    Lucky Launcher II Set

Want the full package with a case and cleaning kit? Take a look at the Lucky Launcher II Deluxe Gun Dog Kit.

The Lucky Launcher 2 is perfect for folks that want an easy to fire, one handed launcher. Unlike other hand held launchers, the Lucky Launcher can be cocked and fired one handed. It's great if you are working by yourself with a younger dog.

The Lucky Launcher should be fired off your thigh, not off your shoulder. This helps get the perfect height and allow the recoil to be better absorbed.

    Transcript from Steve's Video:

This is the new Lucky Launcher. The folks at Retriever Trainer have made a couple of changes to it, making it an easier product to use. Youíll notice the stock comes in two parts now. So, going to attach it together. This allows you to carry it in something smaller. When you buy it as the kit, you get a case that comes with it. So itís easy to break down and you can carry it inside the case.

The Lucky Launcher is one of my favorite dummy launchers. It works off of 22 power loads just like the Retriever Trainer. Open it up, put your loads in here. Close it up to fire it. Attach your dummy and then you cock it. And youíve got a pistol grip that allows you to fire it when you are ready.

Whatís great about the Lucky Launcher is that it allows one-handed operation. When you are working with younger dogs, this can come in handy. It just allows you to have that extra hand in case you need it, unlike the Retriever Trainer, which requires to hands to operate. The Lucky Launcher, you can cock it and then fire when ready.

One of the things I like to point out about the Lucky Launcher is that while this may look like a shoulder stock, itís generally not recommended that you fire it that way. You can, but the kick on it is a little much for most people. Even though itís got a little padding here, I just donít recommend it.

It’s actually designed to be fired off of your thigh. So then you angle it whichever way you need to. Having it as a one-handed operation comes in real handy, especially when you are working with younger dogs. It just gives you that option in case you need to do something else with that other hand.

This is the Lucky Launcher kit. It comes with a hard-shell case, two dummies, a box of loads, plus a gun cleaning kit. We sell it several other ways. You can buy it as a set, which is just going to be the launcher, dummy, and a box of loads. And then you can buy the Lucky Launcher by itself. This version of it I like just from the standpoint that itís easy to break apart. Itís going to be a little easier to keep with you.

The Lucky Launcher 2. Itís a great dummy launcher for folks that are looking for a high-end launcher.

I train alone and have found the Lucky Launcher II to be an outstanding tool for training on marks. I started using it a year ago with my now 2 year old lab. I run 2 to 3 launches per session. We now hand throw a single bumper (memory bird) and launch a second bird (go bird) for training doubles. The Lucky Launcher II has never failed to function correctly. However, the launching dummies don't always have such a long life. The plastic ring at the base tend to shatter [typically] after a couple month's of use.

"Great for getting the dog used to a gunshot and to watch for the fall."

    reviewstarsreview text

    Jim From AZ

Love it. Use it all the time to train my dogs, both previous and current.

Can throw the dummy out so far that it is a real swimming challenge even for a big healthy Chessie (none better!).

You can also use weaker blanks and not throw it too far for training exercises. Great for getting the dog used to a gunshot and to watch for the fall.

The only thing that I don't like is that it doesn't fold up somehow. It doesn't fit in my dog duffel or any I can find, and so it gets separated and lost.

Other than that it is great, wouldn't be without one.

When steadying young dogs, or tune ups on older dogs who might be getting a little sloppy, the ability to fire the launcher with one hand while having the other free for any necessary corrections has resulted in rock steady performance from my dogs. It also allows my father, who has had a stroke, to assist me in training. He can be 2-5 hundred yards away, and we do long marks. He would be unable to assist me if it were not for the ability to fire the launcher one handed.

But she launches dummies 60-75 yds with the light Green charges. Would buy again w/o reservation... especially after using the older, hand-held model with yellow charges.

Anyone who has a bird dog needs this launcher. It serves as a great simulation for an actual hunt as well as an excellent workout for the pup. Having your lab execute 100yd water retrieves will whip them into shape in no time! Paired with the loud pop of the .22 blank and some added dove or quail scent to the dummy, I don't see how you could get any closer to the real deal.

Great product, especially for the waterfowling dog. You can work on steadiness to shot, marking and long distance retrieves with one person (and one hand). One warning, you might want to make sure you have some tool (knife, needlenose, etc.) as the spent casings stick sometimes and are a little difficult to get out. A small inconvenience at times, but pales in comparison to all the great things about this product.

P.S. My dog absolutely loves it. Other than live birds, she gets more excited about training with this than anything else.

The Lucky Launcher II has proved to be extremely helpful in the training of my retrievers. I have found that the dummy travel distances listed as in the specs for the launcher were surprisingly conservative. With the red load, using the standard dummies, I have found the travel distance to be much closer to 100 - 110 yds (especially with any wind at your back). The lighter loads will launch the standard dummies 70 yards. This is a great product and has proven very effective for training regiments.

Different strength blanks can be ordered: green (low load), yellow (middle load) and red (high load). Yellow is a bit strong and goes a bit too far so I use the green loads. I also find it's helpful to launch from my hip. The kick is a bit too much for repeated firing from my shoulder.

Love this thing!! Yes, it kicks hard even on the light loads, and with the factory applied rubber padding, but quite doeable from the hip especially with heavier clothes. I also found the empty casing impossible to remove at first, and thought I was only going to get one shot out of it. However I discovered that if you put the dummy back on the shaft, it will only go part way on, then open the breech and the shell flies out. Not possible to police your brass however as it is gone! Possibly that is how it is supposed to operate? Nothing in the manual about it. Only other problem I have had is with the dummies...the one with streamers lost the streamer the first flight, and the other one is already showing a padding tear at the top after only two sessions...Still it is a great tool and my dog is crazy about it! :)

The shoulder pad needs to be beefed up a little otherwise that little .22 cal blank is going to put a beating on you if you use it to train a number of dogs at a time.

Lithium grease on the o-ring is a must and clean out the cores of the dummies before each launch so the dirt doesn't wear everything down.

Retrieves in the 60 yard range are common. Great training tool when it works well. My dog is improving his breaks at sound of shot.
