Lucky Launcher II Dummy LauncherPerfect for folks that want an easy to fire, one-handed launcher. This pistol-grip dummy launcher with a built-in removable stock combines the sound of the shot with the flight of the dummy and may be conveniently fired from the shoulder or thigh. The Lucky Launcher II permits one-handed operation so that one hand is available for training. Orange and black with a rubber-covered metal stock. Uses the same launcher dummies and loads as our other dummy launchers. NOTE: When training on water, make sure the launch tube in each dummy is dry before re-launching. If water is in the launch tube when the dummy is placed on the launcher, it can enter the firing port, drowning the load and causing a misfire. We recommend having multiple dummies available so the wet ones can dry between launches. Blank Power Charges:Choose your power charge based on the distance you wish to throw the dummy. Use only those charges intended for the RRT Lucky Launcher:
Steve Says: Lucky Launcher IIThe Lucky Launcher 2 is perfect for folks that want an easy-to-fire, one-handed launcher. Unlike other handheld launchers, the Lucky Launcher can be cocked and fired one-handed. It's great if you are working by yourself with a younger dog. The Lucky Launcher should be fired off your thigh, not off your shoulder. This helps get the perfect height and allow the recoil to be better absorbed. Transcript from Steve's Video: This is the new Lucky Launcher. The folks at Retriever Trainer have made a couple of changes to it, making it an easier product to use. You’ll notice the stock comes in two parts now. So, going to attach it together. This allows you to carry it in something smaller. When you buy it as the kit, you get a case that comes with it. So it’s easy to break down and you can carry it inside the case. The Lucky Launcher is one of my favorite dummy launchers. It works off of 22 power loads just like the Retriever Trainer. Open it up, put your loads in here. Close it up to fire it. Attach your dummy and then you cock it. And you’ve got a pistol grip that allows you to fire it when you are ready. What’s great about the Lucky Launcher is that it allows one-handed operation. When you are working with younger dogs, this can come in handy. It just allows you to have that extra hand in case you need it, unlike the Retriever Trainer, which requires two hands to operate. The Lucky Launcher, you can cock it and then fire when ready. One of the things I like to point out about the Lucky Launcher is that while this may look like a shoulder stock, it’s generally not recommended that you fire it that way. You can, but the kick on it is a little much for most people. Even though it’s got a little padding here, I just don’t recommend it. It’s actually designed to be fired off of your thigh. So then you angle it whichever way you need to. Having it as a one-handed operation comes in real handy, especially when you are working with younger dogs. It just gives you that option in case you need to do something else with that other hand. This is the Lucky Launcher kit. It comes with a hard-shell case, two dummies, a box of loads, plus a gun cleaning kit. We sell it several other ways. You can buy it as a set, which is just going to be the launcher, dummy, and a box of loads. And then you can buy the Lucky Launcher by itself. This version of it I like just from the standpoint that it’s easy to break apart. It’s going to be a little easier to keep with you. The Lucky Launcher 2. It’s a great dummy launcher for folks that are looking for a high-end launcher. Steve Snell

Ramps up the excitement level
January 6, 2025
The sound, the distance, and the total ease of use makes this my number one choice in launchers. Obie, our vizsla is training for NAVHDA Utility Test. He has his FC AFC titles but was new to water work. The Lucky Launcher ramped up his excitement level that the water work transition was easy.

Works better than expected

This product helps immensely when training a dog by myself. It was also instrumental in gun conditioning a very gun shy pup. Put a little of the supplied gun oil on the launcher shaft and o ring. It really helps loading the dummy, as well as increases range a bit.

I have used the two hand model for years. My arthritis loves the kick going to my thigh. I also like the free hand to touch my dog if needed. Truly great training tool.

Make sure you have 70yds to let the bumper land with the medium loads included. I bought some light loads and they fly about 50yds. My dog can tell he is going to get to run longer when he sees me grab the gun vs me throwing bumpers.

My dog loves the lucky launcher ll. He gets so excited when I bring it out and I believe he would run till he drops chasing after the bumpers. I've put about 100 rounds through it with no issues other than the o-ring but they sent a spare with it.

Lucky launcher kit

This launcher greatly helps with dogs that when training don't break, but on gun shot they do. It also helps with getting your dog to run longer retrieve. I was throwing dummies and my lab was getting used to stopping about 30 yards out before you had to start casting here.

Great trainer for distance and control
March 21, 2024
Great trainer from shot to bird fall and retrieve. Supports steady on shot and back commands. Medium yellow blank is more than enough. Adjust launcher angle for distance. I had to thoroughly clean and lube all parts of launcher and dummies before use.

Lucky Laucher II Dummy Launcher Set
February 19, 2024
This is a replacement for my 20+ year old Lucky Launcher, I'm very pleased with the improvement made to this model, manly the shell ejector. Easily removes medium load empty cases, haven't tried heavy loads. Quality of material is very good, better than my orginal launcher. Medium loads work great, haven't had any light loads or miss fires.

Excellent retriever training kit
November 16, 2023
My versatile dog loves retrieving from this on land and water. The egg is a little harder for her to pick up, but she goes bonkers at the sight of the launcher. The case can fit more dummies so you can interchange while you wait for the others to dry. I find using the green or yellow ammo are suitable enough for distances. Definitely need ear protection when firing this off.

My other launcher is 15 years old; still works, but this gives us the chance to work multiple retrieves. I'm confident this one will get us through the next 15 years.

Great Training Tool
March 7, 2023
Great tool for training, if you have a dog that breaks on the shot and doesn't when hand thrown bumper this is your tool coupled with E-Collar. I will say that you will only need the light loads to launch unless you get the uber large bumper which I haven't tried. The normal size bumper goes 100+ yards with medium loads.

Duck launch dummy poorly made
August 6, 2021
I bought one last year for my new lab. I hve had some trouble with some loads but that trouble went away when I started keeping all my loads in plastic zip locks to prevent ANY moisture. The duck dummy launcher i ordered with the kit did not last more than 20 shots. The pressure from the shot opened up a small hole in the foam near the neck. This loss of pressure does not allow the duck to fly more than 10 yards I should have returned it last year when it happened but just got busy then the next thing you know a year has gone by, you know how it goes. I also had some issues with the packaging when I first received the launcher(the loads had come loose and were all over the box thee package sounded like a rattle.) The customer service was exemplary they immediately sent more loads. Overall the launcher works well and yes definitely wear hearing protective while using. And keep the orange bolt handle tight(it loosens up) keep a little Vaseline handy for the o ring. They should include an extra o ring. Most importantly my dog loves it!

Good, but not perfect
May 12, 2021
The Good: The Lucky Launcher II launches the provided bumper a distance of 50 to 60 yards (measured) with the medium power loads that came with it. Right now, I'm using it to drill my dog on steadiness. The one-hand operation is important because it leaves my other hand free to hold her collar. The load report mimics the sound of a shotgun, adding to the stimulus. (The warning to wear ear protection should be taken SERIOUSLY.) In the near future, I plan to use it to create longer retrieves over varied terrain, including water, and the range will make this possible.Power loads are reliable. I've used about 1/3 of the 100 that came with it with no misfires. The Not-So-Good: The provided canvas bumper has a smoother surface than other canvas bumpers and my dog sometimes struggles to keep a hold on it. I have already ordered a compatible bumper from another manufacturer. The recoil is surprisingly heavy. It feels about like my 12 gauge O/U shooting 3" goose loads. Since it doesn't generate nearly the momentum of a 12 gauge, I attribute the felt recoil to the light weight and the rudimentary stock. I've taken to wearing a PAS recoil pad when I shoot it.Cleaning it is problematic. A bore snake will not go through it. Neither will a .22 pistol cleaning rod and patch. I got one stuck in the bore and had a time getting it out. I've taken to cleaning it with an aerosol bore scrubber and compressed air and lubricating/preserving it with a spray lubricant. Not as effective as I'd like but it works. Also, I only get about 10 launches before enough residue builds up in the chamber to make chambering a new blank difficult.

Great product, I'm not sure who likes it more me or the dog! It's a great training aid and tons of fun. Buy extra O rings. They are only 40 cents and if your dog likes it as much as mine does it's good to have some on hand.
