For over 30 years, Sherry Ray Ebert was part of a team that trained and campaigned the famed Smith Setters. She stresses the only difference between a top-notch gun dog and a field trial performer is range, so the training is the same. The non-abusive methods shown are those of a master trainer and work well on both strong-willed and more sensitive dogs.
You will learn how to:
Pick a puppy and care for it
Get the puppy to point
Introduce your dog to birds
Use the electronic training collar
Use a barrel to teach whoa, develop composure and help teach him to hold point
Use pigeons to train your dog to be steady on point and to flush and shot
Chapter 14 through 19 are superb regarding my primary interest, teaching/improving pointing using pigeons with bird launchers. There are also a number of other topics superbly covered as well. Highly recommended.

"This DVD is great for first time pointing breed owners!"
It's an older video and starts off slow. The production of the video is a little rough, but Sherry is extremely knowledgeable about setters. I'm sure there are better DVDs, but this is the only breed specific video I found so far. I'm pleased with it. I found quite a few tips very helpful in my dog training. These techniques work.
