Innotek FS-25-A OVERVIEW: This collar can be used for both problem solving and basic dog training.The main advantage of this remote training collar is transmitter size. It can fit in the palm of your hand. The FS25A has the smallest transmitter on the market with any kind of reliable range (250 yards).
IS THIS THE RIGHT COLLAR FOR ME? The Innotek FS-25-A is a good collar for you if you are looking to control a dog that does not need an enormous selection of stim levels at any one time. This collar is perfect for you if you are walking your dog and don't want to carry a large transmitter. The FS25A is also good for doing basic yard work. I use mine at the barn when I am doing a little fine-tuning after I have fed my dogs.
Innotek FS-25-A TRANSMITTER: The Innotek FS-25-A has a small, keychain-sized 1-button transmitter with a built-in antenna. It has a BOOSTER SWITCH on the left-hand side that instantly gives you the choice between two levels of stimulation. The transmitter can be worn on a wrist bracelet, or a key chain. You can also wear it around your neck with the lanyard that comes with it.
Innotek FS25A LEVELS: The Innotek FS-25-A has seven stimulation levels, but you can only use two levels at a time, so you have to find the correct stimulation level for your dog. If on the low end you need a "1" then when you need an increase, you can jump to a "3" by moving the BOOSTER SWITCH.
At any one time you can choose between a 1/3, 2/4, 3/5, 4/6, or 5/7 depending on how you set the DIP SWITCHES inside the transmitter.
With the FS25A, you have seven stimulation levels, so if you have a dog that requires a "4" and a "6", you have to open up the transmitter, reset the dip switches and move the levels up. However, if the dog needs a lower level when you are in the "4"/"6" mode (say a "2") you do not have that option available to you without making a change inside the transmitter.
Innotek FS25A STIMULATION TYPES: The FS 25 A is a continuous stimulation ONLY collar. This means that you control the length of the stimulation by how long you hold down the button. You can press and release or you can hold it down for a longer correction.
Innotek FS-25-A COLLAR: The FS25A uses a rechargeable niMh battery. Average run time on a single charge is around 70 hours. It is a good battery and you should get 3 to 5 years of average use if you take care of the battery.
Innotek FS-25-A USEFUL LIFE OF PRODUCT: Like many other consumer products these days, the FS25A could be considered a "disposable" collar. The battery is water-proofed and the electronics in the collar are sealed in a silicone based gel. This means the battery can not be replaced, and the electronics cannot be repaired.
The Innotek FS25A is less than $130 and comes with a 1 year warranty. If you get 2 years worth of use, you're looking at 18-cents a day for a pretty good training collar. It's much like buying a cheap VCR, you use it for a couple of years until it breaks, then you throw it away and buy a new one.
