BEST-SELLER: SYLMAR Hunting Dog Vest -- ORANGE Not recommended for hog hunting. The Sylmar Body Guard Dog Vest gives your dog additional chest and body protection with increased visibility at a distance and in cover. Can also be used post-injury or surgery to protect the chest, belly, or flanks from licking, chewing, or scratching. Bandages can be covered and made secure. Also excellent for itchy hot spots or nipple problems. The three straps over the top can be used to assist older dogs to their feet. Construction Materials: Rip-stop 500 denier Cordura nylon with an additional layer of 1000 denier Cordura nylon for the chest and body plate. NOTE: The XSS and XS sizes are manufactured with smaller straps and buckles. We recommend a break-in period for the Body Guard Vest before extended use. The more use the vest receives the softer it will become, yet it will maintain its toughness and durability because of the ripstop material. Hand washing will also help to soften the material. Customer Reviews
- 1. Easy on/easy off.
- 2. Bright orange color is easy to spot among the trees.
- 3. Chest/belly fabric protects against harsh underbrush.
- 4. Well made, light-weight, yet sturdy.
- 5. "Arm" holes are generously sized. No chafing or impediment to movement.
- No cons, but a reflective strip on each side would be a nice option.
- Good fit (check out the video for sizing). I got a small for my girl.
- Lightweight however we have only used this fall and winter so not sure if it would be too warm in summer. But since it is open on top I feel there will be adequate ventilation.
- Definitely protects. Not a single puncture has appeared in the chest area and she has tested this out several times as she wears it every day.
- The only con is that the fabric that is used on the sides is not as heavy as the chest area. I do have a small puncture from a thorn of a locust tree. I still would rate this ***** as it continues to protect her which is most important to me.
- Great visibility, feels durable, and functional.
- I would definitely recommend practicing putting the vest on your dog ahead of the hunt if you have excited dogs! I am glad I did!
- Extremely durable, easy to adjust and fit, stays fitted with no need to adjust except when a pup gains some weight, breaths easy for warm weather, highly visible in thick cover.
- Material, sizing (thanks for the online guide), and design were all on-target for us.
- Very nice vest - plenty of adjustment in a small for my 46lb vizsla. There is a label on the vest that says what size it is. This will help next time I need to order one.
- NA
- Ease of use. Durability. Solid material. Good value for the price.
- Fit around neck. Length of protection for the belly could be longer
- Protection and Visibility.
- Visibility, not bulky, fits well, easy to step into and out of, washed up well after
- The strap material, nylon, frayed a bit from the thorns/briars. I want to see if I can find a confirm sleeve to help protect that (we have a ;leash sleeve; we use for our pet therapy group ID, so something smaller may work!)
- Lightweight
- Easy to put on
- Bright colour to alert hunters
- The material seems sturdy
- I understand that you can't have more belly coverage for male dogs but it would be nice for females.
- High-quality stitching
- Great visibility
- Thick skid plate for superior protection
- Poor fit around dogs neck for hunting in deep snow, not that big of a deal really, but thought I'd mention it.
- Protection, tough material, softens up with wear, much needed high visibility orange really helps to see your dog in thick cover, fast shipping.
- Fit is critical. My 41 pound English Setter female wears a small. The xs body and chest fitter better, but the armpit holes were too small. On the small the chest plate sits open like a scoop, might need to add some corner gussets and close it up so it doesn
- Fits well .... Easy to put on .... Very visible in the field .... Straps help to lift dogs into a truck that is difficult to get into.
- There are no cons as of this point. Have used them for most of one season.
- Fit
- Durability
- Material, design, and fit.
- Durable and lightweight
- Size chart is a little off. Measurements called for a large and had to return it (which was easy) and order a medium.
- Light weight, non insulated, easy to pack, not restricting of movement, sheds most birds to keep them off fur.
- After a season or two the orange does fade quickly but a minor trade off for the price and protection of your hunting or hiking partner. This will be the second vest purchased in 4 seasons. Only reason I replaced it was color faded and became dull but otherwise it's in good shape.
- Easy to put on cleans up nicely durable
- Can't think of any
- Well made
- Adjustable
- Light weight
- Breathable
- Takes a little while to adjust
- Fits as described
- Strong material
