Light in weight but also quality
March 19, 2021
Got this for my Boykin puppy. Honestly, this is the lightest weight lead I could find. But having received it, I would have been just as good going to the hardware store and spending less than half. The light rope is the kind that will burn your hands, but it's for a smaller pup, so that's not horrible. The rope is just the standard nylon you used to have on your tire swing as a kid. As such, it's already starting to fray. Again, it's getting the job done, but not better than cheap rope from Home Depot.

Check cord "Puppy"
December 22, 2020
This was the worst thing to train a puppy with. Ever notice that when you are training a puppy they want to bite at the cord (Leash) at first. Of course its a puppy. This cord made of cheep nylon, shreds up from the puppy's biting at it. I showed this "check cord" to a seasoned trainer- National Field Trial trainer and he said about the Leash and the rubber thing on the end. "I don't know what that's for" Also the photo on the package shows the a dog, not a puppy with the cord w/ the metal clasp in a choke position. Not a good thing to use on a puppy that way.
Merchant Response:Joseph,
I'm sorry the Dokken PuppyCheck30 did not work out for you. We will be happy to extend our return period if you would like to send it back for an exchange or refund. The rubber piece is meant to be used as a stopper when the cord is being used like a slip lead instead of being attached to the collar.
Thanks,
Ben

I really like this check cord.

just re-purchased this product to replace the original ones that I purchased six years ago. They've just recently gotten threadbare. I use these daily, btw. The lighter weight is perfect for my small-ish boned female Border Collies. A previous post reported this cord 'bunched' to their dis-satisfaction, and while I remember some kinking initially with the cord, my experience has been that with regular and continued use, in a relatively short period of time the cord relaxes. Money well spent on this cord, IMO.

Good check cord but tangles easily due to the way it is packaged (rope stays kinked)

The end snap broke after only a handful of uses with my puppy. The spring seized up within the snap. Seems to be cheaply made.

Start your pup on a regular collar and attach the snap to the collar for several weeks. Once you see he has accepted your control use it as a choker. The rubber stopper allows you to have various dogs and not worry about having different size choke chains. Hands down best $13 you can spend.
