These durable platforms suit my needs well. They are light weight, easy to transport, my dog know when she is on target because of the surface change.
    • Light, durable, good size
    • Surface is slick

Hugely overpriced. In the images online, these look like high quality plastic platforms, the price suggests the same. All they are is pieces of the same cheap plastic signboard that you see advertising open houses or carwash fundraisers on the side of the road. Strictly speaking they do the trick, they are light, waterproof, easy to carry, and easy for the dog to see. Unfortunately, they are also rather slick and can slide across smooth ground, and my dog has slipped on them when he hits them at high speed and tries to stop. The book that they came with had good training information, but was little more than a xeroxed packet of paper. Ultimately, a decent product, but I can't help but think that I could have gotten the same platforms at a craft or sign store for $4.

Made of white cardboard. Would not have lasted 5 mins. in training. I returned them immediately.

Don't use this product to cast your dog to the right or left, neither for back, nor angle back. Use Dokken Deadfowl Duck dummies instead. The dogs like the drills much better when there is a retrieve involved, and not just running to a platform. IT"S A BIG DIFFERENCE. Use the duck dummies and AVERY's competition style bumpers, NOT the Dokken Platforms for those drills.

So what are the Dokken Platforms good for? They are good for teaching your dog to go to any location that is not a retrieve, such as "go to kennel" or "go to your blanket" or "get in the truck - or rather jump up (into the F250), and things like that. For retrieve moves that involve casting the dog somewhere, these are next to useless compared to having a bumper pile at the spot(s) you want the dog to go to. Also, the dogs will learn the casting drills A LOT quicker and enjoy it 10 times more.

These are pretty much as described, but are not worth the money and don\'t work very well. They are very slippery and just shoot out from under the dog when he takes off. They also blow away in even the slightest breeze. They would be much better if they were rubber or something of better substance (like a cheap vinyl doormat). The cardboard box these ship in could be cut up and used just as well as the product itself...

Granted this is my first attempt at platform training but these platforms are providing some frustrations. Unlike a raised platform it is easy for the dog to halfway sit on the and dodge around a bit. I think a raised platform would make it more clear to the dog where they should be. Also, they slide around vey easily in the grass especially on an uneven surface. This seems to make the dog less comfortable with them. We are still at short distances. When she starts going to the at linger distances and hits them faster this could be more of an issue. But they are inexpensive and easy to transport
