The NEW Garmin Alpha 200i takes everything we love about the Alpha 100 and squeezes it into a sleeker package with even more features.
All the way back in 2012, Garmin gave us the best-selling Garmin Alpha 100: the first-ever Garmin GPS tracking collar combined with a Tri-Tronics remote trainer. For the first time, you could track and train your dog using one handheld and one collar with the added versatility of a touchscreen.
Now after all these years, Garmin gives us their second-generation Alpha handheld: the 200i.
The Alpha 200i features a larger 3.5" touchscreen compared to the Alpha 100's 3" screen, giving you more detail and better control.
Three Side Buttons:
In addition to the three front buttons carried over from the original Alpha 100, the new Alpha 200i adds three side buttons for improved usability.
More Internal Memory:
The Alpha 200i has 16 GB of internal memory. That's FOUR TIMES MORE than what was in the original Alpha 100. More memory means more detailed maps, more dog data, and more functionality.
Compass Pro View:
In addition to your dogs, you can now see the direction and distance to your truck and your friends' Alpha handhelds on the Compass Screen.
Built-in InReach Technology:
The Alpha 200i has a built-in InReach communicator, so in an emergency you can send interactive SOS alerts and two-way messages via the 100% global Iridium satellite network from anywhere in the world with no cellular service needed. Note that a satellite subscription is required to use the InReach functions, but is NOT required for tracking or training your dogs.
Some other cool new features of the Alpha 200i include:
Preloaded TopoActive Maps
Directly download BirdsEye satellite imagery to your Alpha
Hunt Metrics Data
shows each dog's hunting patterns and behaviors so you can keep them healthy and safe
Compatible with the Garmin Explore App and Website
for managing tracks, routes, and waypoints, as well as reviewing statistics from the field
The Garmin TT15 GPS tracking and training collar helps you keep up with your dog with a number of features.
LED Beacon Lights give your dog extra visibility in low-light conditions. See your dog more easily while he is running at night, and help other people and oncoming traffic see your dog better as well.
You can track TT15 and TT15 MINI Collars plus Astro T5 and T5 MINI collars with your Alpha or Astro handheld. This allows Alpha users who need a tracking system for competitions to legally run T5 tracking collars. It also lets people who buy the Astro 430 with T5 collars continue to use them in the future if they decide to move to an Alpha handheld.
The black top-mounted GPS / Galileo receiver antenna gives you better reception and makes it easy to tell which collar you are running (TT15 vs. T5). The T5 has an orange GPS receiver, while the TT15, TT10, and DC 50 all have black GPS receivers.
Track and train your dog with just one handheld on just one screen
One less system to keep charged and carry around
One less collar to weigh your dog down
Quick-charge batteries with a long run time mean more hunting, more training, and less charging
Track your friends' Alpha handhelds in the field
Top-mounted, high-sensitivity GPS / Galileo receiver for increased signal reception
Rescue Mode preserves battery life so you can find lost dogs
Emergency Alert lets you send your dog's last known location and an alert message to other Alpha users in the area
Send interactive SOS alerts and two-way emergency messages via satellite anywhere in the world with built-in InReach technology (subscription required for InReach functions, not required for tracking or training your dogs)
Know Where Your Dog Is, Where He's Heading, and What He's Doing:
Track up to 20 dogs or other Alpha handhelds
Track Alpha TT15 / TT15 MINI / TT10 collars plus Astro T5 / T5 MINI Collars (T5 collars must be set to Alpha mode and do not offer training functions)
The Compass Screen shows your dogs' direction, distance, and speed
The Map Screen lets you see your dogs' trails on the TOPO map
See if your dog is approaching a highway or property line
See if your dog is out of gun range
See if your dog is running too big BEFORE he gets too far out

Garmin ALPHA 200i + TT15 Combo Range
The Garmin Alpha handheld and collar have a "line of sight" range of up to 9 miles.
The Alpha handheld and dog GPS collar communicate using a VHF radio signal. To get the maximum range out of the system there needs to be nothing obstructing this signal.
Realistically, this won't happen in most places we spend time with our dogs, so the actual usable range will be MUCH less than 9 miles depending on hunting/training conditions, weather, terrain, presence of cover, etc.

So far great product. So reassuring to know where my setter is at all times and if he is on point. Geofence is a super feature in thick cover. Only complaint is that the alert alarms are hard to hear for an old guy.
Easy to read
Hard to hear alert sounds
Terrific Product - Glad I Upgraded
March 18, 2021
I owned and extensively used an Alpha 100/TT15 bundle for over six years and loved it. However, the Alpha 200i system is a significant upgrade in all respects. In particular, being able to simultaneously track the locations of my dogs, my truck and other Alpha handhelds using the Pro View compass is a great new feature. Moreover, the integrated inReach satellite communication technology in the 200i is a game changer. I can now do solo hunts in remote areas (with poor or no cell service) with the confidence that I can keep family members apprised of my location and summon non-emergency or Emergency SOS assistance, if needed. Lastly, Steve’s instructional videos for the Alpha 200i system are an invaluable resource and a very efficient way to learn about all of the features (many of which are customizable) of the 200i.
* Excellent user interfaces (both the enhanced touch screen and new side buttons).
* Greatly improved screen (larger, sharper resolution and easier to read in bright sunlight).
* Pro View compass.
* Integrated inReach satellite communication technology and flexible subscription plans.
The 200i is not compatible with OnX Hunt technology. However, the Garmin Huntview Plus map cards that I purchased separately from GDS for the 200i provide a reasonable substitute for OnX Hunt.
Peace of mind
December 20, 2020
We bought this combo for peace of mind when our GSP is in the field. It’s great knowing he’s safe. He’s gotten used to it so quickly! And the delivery time and customer service from Gun Dog Supply has been top notch.
I made the switch to the 200i/tt15 combo right before the 2020 pheasant season started. Glad I made the switch to gps. The 200i made it extremely easy. It’s easy to navigate, easy to setup and easy to use in the field. There is a very well made how to video that gundogsupply made if there is any kind of questions. Would recommend to anyone on the fence to switching!
Nice large screen
Bright easy to read screen in the field
Can personalize the training key sequence to what you want
Compass view for your dogs/truck
I wish there was a teather/clip included. For the price I think it very well could.

Great track & train
December 8, 2020
This was the first collar I got for my 6 month GSP puppy, I figured do it once and do it right. This thing gives a piece of mind for dogs that have full range and can get out of sight quickly. The ability to change the top training buttons has made personalizing the system a piece of cake as I have been introducing tones and vibrations, but when stimulation becomes necessary switching some buttons will be a piece of cake.

I am very happy with this tracking/training system. The dogs enjoy a bit more freedom as well.

I ordered this unit from Gun Dog Supply. I received it quickly but the top left button on the front didn’t work. I called them and they sent me another unit that day. I haven’t had time to completely check this one out but it seems to be fine. Really great service from Gun Dog!
Really good upgrades.
First unit was defective
March 30, 2021
This e-collar is easy to set up and use. It’s a little pricey but, with all of it’s functions and the added security of the inreach function I think it’s worth it
Easy to set up and use
A little pricey and I wish it had a 2 way radio to communicate with hunting partners
March 24, 2021
Rather than repair my old handheld, I decided to upgrade. Very Nice unit with nice features. However Garmin should really work on screen quality. With the Cell phone technology that’s available as well as the high end GPS units for boats that Garmin and others produce, I expected a better screen. But all in all, this is a good unit and worth the upgrade.

Easy and fast. I ordered the wrong collars T5, my fault. Called Gundogsupply and they said send them back and get the the ones I wanted for a slight increase in price for the TT15.
I will review the TT15 collars after I receive them
Glad I Upgraded!

Very pleased with the Alpha 200i after the first two weeks of everyday use. Recently upgraded from the Alpha 100 system, which I used for seven years and liked also. The new device is similar to the 100, except everything about it is a little easier to use. Transitioning was not difficult. The instructional videos by Steve were very helpful for me. I wouldn't dream of letting my dogs loose in the wilderness without having this device!

Little more cumbersome to set up but not a steep learning curb. Love the ease of changing screens and the ability to see track four dogs at once on the pro view screen. Highly recommend.
Bigger and brighter screen.
Ease of scrolling
Great Product All the Way Around!!!

I'm loving the new Alpha 200i + TT15 GPS Dog Tracking E-Collar Combo. I purchased this with an extra collar for running both of my dogs. Setting up the system and adding the extra collar was a breeze....even for an old guy like me! I love knowing exactly where my dogs are when out in the field or woods; without the need for the annoying loud beeping of some systems. I also love being able to correct either for bad behavior should that be necessary. Seeing the location of both dogs at the same time is easy because of the large screen. Toggling between the two for the training mode is a piece of cake. I was able to name each collar to take the guesswork out of which dog was wearing which collar. The stress of losing sight of my dogs is no longer a part of my hunt or even when just airing them out. I'm so glad I invested in this system given how much more I have invested in my dogs. I'm also very happy that I purchased it from Gun Dog Supply because I know if I ever have a problem, I'll be able to talk with someone who has great product knowledge and wonderful customer service.
Rock Solid Product, Expandable, Customizable, Proven Manufacturer
I haven't experienced anything negative yet.

The Alpha 200 and the tt15 collar work flawlessly the 200 is an excellent tool, I wish it came with a better mapping solution, or card. Gundogsupply was easy to deal with and did exactly what you expected from a top notch company.

Works as intended but requires study and practice to us in the field.

I'm a big fan of tech and use it a lot. GPS trackers are great and knowing where my dog is and has been makes for a better hunt. This GPS, however, has a steep learning curve. Its no problem sitting at the kitchen table playing around with the features. In the field it is a different story. I often found myself tripping over ground cover while trying to get out the GPS and get back on the right screen to give a command or find the dog. With a gun in one hand, walking through sage or creek bottoms, using a gloved hand I would often get frustrated because the screen would have changed due an inadvertant touch while trying to get the screen in view. I know much of this is my fault because I didn't learn the lock feature (assuming there is one) and was not so familiar with the device that I could reliably operate it without looking. I ended up putting a cow bell on the dog which let me know where she was at all times and then used the GPS collar much more sparingly. That seemed to do the trick. No more tripping while starring at the screen like a millennial. Other than that Garmin always makes great quality products with their own special twist on usability features and high prices. The product works as designed and it is up to you to bring your skill level up to its ability.
Accurate GPS, mapping
Steep learning curve

My Tritronics battery finally died and since I can't get a new one it was the perfect time to upgrade to a gps tracking unit. I can't compare this to the other Garmin units but I am very happy with this and it is great to know exactly where the dog is when he gets out of sight. I have used this on a few hunts already and I am very pleased with the performance. If you want a do it all unit I think you can look no further.
So far it works well and does what I need it to.

The first unit I received was defective: the compass would not calibrate properly and the pointer sometimes literally spun in circles on the screen when I tried to find my pointing dog. Worse than useless. I spent hours testing and recalibrating the compass, calling Garmin's tech support (basically useless), and finally reached out to Gun Dog Supply for help. GDS is awesome and their staff know more about Garmin products relating to dogs than Garmin. They suggested some things to try that Garmin didn't, and when I got back to them that their suggestions didn't work and that I thought the unit was defective, they sent me a replacement. I'm happy to report that the replacement Alpha 200i works as it should (I've now used it on two chukar hunts in extreme terrain and the compass works as well or better than my trusty old Alpha 100).
Includes Garmin's inReach
Has more features and tracking doodads than the Alpha 100
Bigger, brighter screen than the Alpha 100
Can track other handhelds easily on the compass
Tiny bit heavier than the Alpha 100
First unit was defective but took a lot of time to verify that
Garmin's tech support and software continue to be very subpar

No OnX Hunt chip compatability.
November 9, 2020
Sold the unit to my friend at a discount instead of returning to Gun Dog Supply. Garmin took a big step backwards by not including compatability for the OnX Hunt chip. I upgraded from the Alpha 100 and expected the same OnX experience. I was disappointed. Most Garmin units recognize the chip, not the Alpha 200i. I expected the latest and greatest from Garmin to do the same as their previous units.
Great screen, excellent interface, very easy to operate the controls.
As stated above.
