An Inexpensive Fix!! Just What We Needed!

We have had the Garmin Pro Handheld and Collar for our lab for nearly five years and it has been great insurance when we walk her on trails and logging roads off leash, we are able to keep track of her whereabouts and beep her back after she has a chance to chase or follow deer or turkey scents - she learned the beep quickly and that's all she needs to know to return! We started having trouble getting the handheld to hold a charge and then wouldn't charge at all. A quick call to Gun Dog Customer Support and a replacement battery was recommended for our handheld! The rep that I spoke with said that the handheld batteries are typically good for 3-5 years of regular use, and we use ours almost every day! Guess we got a good life out of the first one. So we ordered a new battery for under $40! That new battery did the trick! What a relief, not needing to buy a whole new unit at this point. In general this set (the handheld and collar) have both worked flawlessly and we would honestly replace them each in a second if we needed to. They are lifesavers!!

We weren't really having any battery issues with our 550 even after 6 years. I had to replace the collar's battery and thought it would be prudent to do the same for the remote. Charged up nicely, good battery life.
