Sizing:

Measuring:
Measure your dog's foot to make sure your GDS Dog Boots are the right size. Place your dog's foot on a piece of paper and press down on the top of it, mimicking how the foot spreads when he is walking. Mark the left and right sides of his foot on the paper and measure the distance between the marks. Compare this to the boot sizes. The width of his foot should be smaller than the boot size. For example, if his foot width is 2", order a Small boot at 2 3/8".

We make Sylmar Dog Boots right here in Mathiston, Mississippi. They are made with the same materials that we use in Sylmar Dog Vests.
The orange fabric is 500 denier ripstop nylon and the black is 1000 denier coated nylon. It's tough stuff and will serve you well.
Nylon boots will last a period of time but will wear out eventually, especially on rocks and sand. You can patch them using rubber spray or Shoe Goo, and you can burn frayed edges to increase their life span.
My favorite thing about Sylmar Dog Boots is that they are easy to carry in your hunting vest.
I prefer to only boot dogs if necessary, and that is usually because of sand spurs. Since you don't always know when you will run into them, I like to always carry dog boots with me.
Plus, Sylmar Boots do not require any tape to apply, so they can easily be put on in the field.
I've also found that most dogs only require their front feet to be booted in sand spurs. I'm not really sure why, but that's my experience.
Nothing is worse than turning out all your dogs and getting hundreds of yards from the truck, only to find out that the perfect spot to hunt is covered in sand spurs. It's a quick way to ruin your day.
Bought these after moving to Texas, there are a lot of sharp and thorny things. Our lab was having problems anytime we went outside, goat heads, sand burrs and a ton of other thorns kept her pretty miserable. These boots stand up to pretty much anything you throw at it.

Good product but be aware of sizing
February 6, 2024
Purchased this product for my 60lb golden retriever who has trouble with ice building in pads when hunting upland in snow. These provide good protection and doesn't bother the dog any. She was still able to get a good grip. Only thing to be aware of is that she measured to be a medium but needed a large. Size up because they narrow at the toes as oppose to spread as foot compresses during the run.

Good boots for a little money.
December 19, 2023
Pheasant hunted 5 very long days in tough terrain in Minnesota and Iowa. The boots worked very well. They had some wear on the bottom of the boots but didn't wear thru like the others I have tried. I did use duct tape on the inside and on the outside on the velcro. I didn't lose a single boot!
Pros
Inexpensive boots and good quality.
Cons
Boots are shorter and only have one velcro strap.

Good boots overall
November 19, 2023
These are similar to Scotts dog boots but the top of the boot is wider and bulkier (due to the tag) which makes for a lot of material to tape around. The overall design could be improved some. They run a little shorter in length compared to some, so order the larger size if you are between sizes.

Grass bur protection
August 12, 2023
We've used this construction for years and have found here in South Texas it is the best design we have found. We used to cut by bicycle tire tubes in sections for our dog's feet which galled the dogs feet after running hard. These boots would be perfect if the tops were longer and would include a second Velcro strap above. My dog lost 2 on the first outing. I am glad they are not that expensive! That's the only reason for them not being a 5 star. I looked at the boots that had the extra strap but didn't like the tire bottoms and extra padding that I thought would become wet and heavier and easier to loose.

good quality for the price

I think they could be a little deeper,They came off a couple times. They also wore on the top of the dog's toes in a spot or two but overall, they did protect the dog's feet. seem tough for the price.

Great Shoes
December 24, 2022
These shoes are a great idea. They are easy to slip on and off. The bright orange is great. The hook and loop is long and very strong. We ordered them hoping they would help protect our GSP's toes because she is in a walker and her rear toes drag when she walks. They are good for grassy areas, but did not hold up on the road. So, we patched them with shoe goo and use them when we are in large grassy areas. Still looking for the right shoes to wear on pavement.
Pros
Easy on easy off
Cons
Don't hold up on pavement or gravel.

Best dog boots
December 15, 2022
I purchased these dog boots to protect my dog's paws when hunting in Texas. The sand burrs eat their paws up and get caught in their coat. I haven't taken her out to use them yet, but they fit great! I know they will protect her paws because the material is durable and has a good thick sole. Perfect for south Texas bird hunting.
Pros
The web site has detailed instructions on measuring your dog

6 inches of wet snow for pheasant season then cold putting a layer of ice on top of the snow that would cut the dogs skin between the nails as they broke thru the ice the boots let the feet heal and stay in the hunt I do recommend tapingthem
Pros
Inexpensive fix to a issue that dosent happen often
Cons
None

Dog Booties
November 28, 2022
Been hunting 3 times and have not lost a single one. I think Buddy actually understands how they help him. He would spend days licking his paws after a hunt now just sleeps. We both like the booties. thanks, Buddy and Clint
Pros
saves dogs paws and keeps him working harder in the fields.
Cons
might loose in field even though we haven't in 3 different hunts.
