Place the stud part of the rivet through from the bottom. Put the crown over the stud and hammer it closed on a hard surface (smooth concrete or steel). You should drive the 2 pieces of the rivet together until the upper surface flattens.

These are tough rivets to find. I went to Fastenal, Ace, and Home Depot. None of them had these in stock. Even Petsmart where we initially bought the tags didn't have extra rivets, only those that came with the purchase of a new collar. Quick and easy. I bought enough for when I need to change out a rabies tag or if the collar gets too worn for a new one. Thanks for the quick shipment. Great store.
