With clear explanations and simple techniques, Just Right! with Robin MacFarlane shows you how to introduce your dog to an electronic collar and properly teach the foundation skills needed for a happy, well-adjusted companion dog.

Robin MacFarlane is owner and training director of That's My Dog!, Inc. She also heads the TMD E-cademy, a continuing education program for dog training professionals. Robin began training dogs professionally in 1994, and in early 2000 turned her attention to the specialization of training with remote collars. Since that time she has travelled extensively across the U.S., Canada and abroad teaching companion dog owners, professional trainers, and K-9 handlers alike the advantages that appropriate electronic collar training can bring. She is known for her eye in reading dogs, her clear ability to explain and demonstrate techniques, as well as her fair and patient instruction of both canine and human alike.

The training sequences in this video were shot primarily with rescue dogs from the Jackson County Humane Society in Maquoketa, Iowa. The dogs had no known previous training experience. The footage is shown in real time so you can witness for yourself real problems and real solutions as they occur, without any editing.

Chapters:
  1. Remote Collar Basics
  2. Foundation Training
  3. Getting Your Dog's Attention
  4. Adding Vocal Demands
  5. Old Dog...New Tricks
  6. The Recall...Teaching Your Dog to Come When Called
  7. The Place Command
Includes a 10-page color training guide.

Transcript from Steve's Video:

Today we're looking at the "Just Right" DVD by Robin McFarlane. This is the DVD for folks that are looking for basic obedience work with an e-collar. It's a little more advanced than most of the stuff that you're going to see. When you buy your e-collar system the majority of them come with training information, but this one's a little more advanced than that.

But it's going to cover all of the things that a pet owner is looking for as far as basic obedience and problem solving. It's a great DVD for folks that are looking to learn how to use their e-collar correctly and to take that dog and train him in the way they want him around the house.

I gave three stars instead of two, since I learned one thing that I didn't know from extemporaneous internet videos made by noted professionals who primarily sell their services, not the info. One advantage of this formally, scripted video is the ability to select which chapter you want to watch from the menu, rather than having to zip through the whole thing every time. The video starts off with an unneeded motivational video of a fully trained GSD being put through it's paces, then proceeds at a rather slow pace thereafter.

Good refresher DVD for me. Several interesting ideas for an old gun dog guy who now only uses a collar as a reinforcement of who is training who.

Robin does an excellent job of explaining how you use the training collar to train your dog. Would like to have seen some application to hunting but very good video.

Explains how to use the e-collar clearly and efficiently. The only downside to the video is that all the commands were shown using the e-collar and a lead. there were no off lead examples.

This video really explains how to properly train a dog. Having no experience with the stimulation training, I was confusing myself as well as my dog. I have a very headstrong 6-year old Lab, and after three outings with the stimulation device, I now have his attention when I give him a command. Thanks for recommending this!!

Decent early early beginner ecollar training dvd. If you don't have a good idea how to use e-collars, then this dvd will help you gain basic knowledge of how, when, and where of e-collar training. If you have a basic idea... I would skip past this level.
