The collar seems good quality leather and buckles are heavy duty .The only complaint really is the letters on the name tag are a little small but other than that its a really decent collar and I would buy another one

The collar fits great, it took a bit to break in. My dog has been in the water a bunch and no issues. The name plate is well etched and very clear and easy to read. When I get another dog I will definitely be buying another. And bonus on the collar is that is smells good

We first purchased 2 of these collars 5-6 years ago for our Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs. They are very well made, durable, and long lasting. As our flocks and herds have increased, we added more Pyrs. With our latest female reaching nearly full grown, we naturally went with the same company collar and collar. We now have 6 dogs wearing these collars, with the original ones still in good shape. The leather is obviously looking worn, but still as strong as ever. Also, the company has quick shipping especially since we get the customized name plates. I would highly recommend these collars. Great company, great product.

Decided to upgrade from petco/cabelas fabric collars for my lab and I wish I'd done it sooner. This one will last a lifetime and it looks great on him. The attached brass plate is a huge upgrade from clinking tags that kept rubbing off.

I honestly was blown away at the quality of this collar. The leather was super thick and wide enough to easily grab onto. The hardware, buckles and d-ring were also super heavy duty. Serves the purpose of a flat collar extremely well and should last her lifetime. An added bonus was her nametag came already installed on the collar. I must say this was the first time in many, many years that something seemingly so small vastly exceeded my expectations. Thank you very much Steve. Keep up the good work!

We have tried lots of collars for our girls (Chocolate, Yellow and Black Labs). Our newest girl, a chocolate, is very high energy and fearless. I came across Gun Dog Supply collars through an internet search, the thick solid leather and heavy duty fastener and lead ring was exactly what I was looking for and as a bonus you can add an identification plate tag that lays flush with the leather collar. When the collar arrived it was exactly what I was expecting, the ID plate had plenty of room for our chocolates full AKC registered name. The collar is thick leather so it is a bit stiff, like a new baseball glove, so before I put it on her I worked mink oil into both sides of the collar twisting and turning while liberally applying the mink oil. The ID plate lays flat on the collar so you need to bend the plate to fit the dogs neck, easy to do. After my wife noticed the collar on our new girl she asked "why didn't you get collars for the other two girls", so a few days later I had two more collars on the way. The collars on the other two girls take much more of a beating from the chocolate that likes to pull on the other girls collars, the collars are holding up better than expected. Im writing this review after having the collars on our girls for almost two months and I have nothing bad to say about these collars, for the price of the collars you can't go wrong.

I've got a young Lab/Dane mix and a young Great Dane, each over 100#. I've purchased several nylon collars, both cheapies from Amazon and nicer ones from the major pet stores, but I wanted to buy something nicer once the pups were mostly finished growing. Stumbled across Snell's while Googling leather collars and didn't at first believe that I could get a quality leather collar for $17 + tax & shipping. Ordered the first one and was amazed at the quality. Ordered a 2nd one as soon as I adopted the 2nd dog. This is my go-to collar as long as they're offered at this price.The 1-1/4 is great for giant breeds. It looks more proportionate than a slimmer collar and distributes any force over a wider area if/when a large dog pulls. It's got a heavy, quality feel and the hardware is heavy and secure. My dogs play rough and can pull hard and neither collar shows any signs of stress or damage. The integrated brass tag is handsome and practical. And it's actually made right here in the U.S! I get complements at the dog park all the time and have recommended Snell's to over a dozen people.

I've bought several leather collars from GDS when dogs grow out of their puppy collars, they're always high quality and the the tag riveted to it is a nice touch.

Purchased this collar prior to leaving for a hunting trip. Collar survives a week of tough hunting in cattails sloughs in South Dakota.

These collars would probably last a lifetime or more. Our lab gets his wet, then after a couple years they get a little smelly, mostly from the oils in his skin, and since he's a homeboy, we get him a new one once in a while. He deserves it, and the price is terriffic, especially for this high quality collar!

I have purchased 12 collars from gun dog supply over the past few years. All of my collars have lasted each dog & cat for the remainder of their life and the name tags are still very readable. My dogs spend a lot of time swimming and these collars have held up great. My oldest dog is a 9 year old chocolate lab and he still has his original collar that we purchased when he was 3 years old. I am the owner of Badlands Bulldogs so I have had many dogs and tried tons of different collars over the years, these collars completely blow away anything else I've tried thats anywhere close to this price range and they are actually just as good as collars that I have spent much more for. As far as longevity I still use the one I bought 10 years ago and thats even on my legendary ADBA weight pull dog King Romeo who's been relentlessly yanking on it for all those years .

This product looked good on the video monitor, but the price seemed so low (and I do know a thing or two about quality leather goods!) that I thought I might be risking getting something cheap and shoddy. However, it proved to be just what I wanted. My English Cream Golden, Laika, seems to like it too!
