These are NECK SIZE COLLARS which means the dog's measured neck size IS the collar size.
Measure Your Dog's Neck to ensure a proper fit.
Use a measuring tape, cloth tape, or a piece of string (and measure the string).
Measure your dog's neck where you want the collar to rest on the neck AND at the appropriate tightness.
Once you have a measurement, refer to the Guide below to find the appropriate size.
The neck size (NS) represents the measurement from the center of the buckle to the fourth adjustment hole.
You can adjust approximately 1-inch longer or 2.5-inches shorter. Keep in mind that using the shorter adjustment holes will leave more collar strap extending past the buckle.
Some dog trainers prefer leather collars when training their dogs because it won't pull on a dog's neck like nylon or other synthetic material when you're working with a dog. Leather has a different kind of friction. Leather doesn't spin on a dog the same as nylon. Doesn't tangle. Moves better on the dog's neck when cornering. The collar turns easier.
Many dog owners like the look and feel of leather dog collars. Leather is one of the world's strongest materials and lasts a long time when taken care of properly. Leather is very durable.
On the downside, you have to care for leather collars a little more, especially if you're working your dogs in water and the leather gets wet. You can clean a leather dog collar with a leather cleaner such as SADDLE SOAP. You also don't want a collar to dry out, so keep it clean and oiled with neatsfoot oil or another leather conditioner. If you have a dog with a light-colored coat like a yellow labrador retriever, don't put something on the collar that will stain the dog's neck!

My 12-year-old dog has been wearing this collar for 11 years, and it's still in good shape! The collar has often been wet because she likes to swim and be out in the rain. Sometimes I scrub it with soap and a brush because it can carry a bit of active-dog smell. Sure, it's a bit worn, but has stood the test of time and it still looks great. I am convinced I could never find a better quality collar.

This is the second leather collar I have purchased here. I'm purchasing the second because after 4.5 years of near 24/7 wear, the first has finally broken. The leather is of high quality and it is a sharp looking collar with the brass accents. The point of failure for the first was the leather around the sizing hole which tends to get bent and worn more than other areas. That being said this collar held up better than expected for such a reasonable price and I think the best endorsement I can give is buying another as a satisfied customer.

I think this is the best dog collar in the world. I've been buying them for many years. We don't have fancy hunting dogs; we have family pet / farm dogs. They're often off leash and sometimes they do wander (the stories they could tell!). Chipping your dog is great, and I would recommend that to everyone, but if the dog just wanders off -- or God forbid gets hit by a car -- it saves a lot of time and bother to have a name and phone number on the collar.
So that's the practical reason for buying this collar. The other reason is that they're just so good-looking and classy. Finally, this may seem creepy, but after your doggo is gone, the collar makes a fine remembrance.

This is a very nice working dog collar. I have the blue heavy-duty BioThane which has been as good as it looks, but it was time for an upgrade to real leather.
I am very pleased with it and the ring which rides on the back of Freida dog's neck makes snapping on a leash quick and easy.
