The science behind the formula:

We have a narrow side yard that we have trained our 3 golden retrievers to use as their bathroom. Over the course of 12+ years, the grass has died and we have been left with ammonia scented dirt. We've tried everything including MANY products claiming to get rid of urine odors but most just cover it up for a day or two. We decided to try Odormute. We started by digging up the top 4-6" to make sure the soil was loose. Mixed the Odormute according to instructions and applied a good soaking to the dirt. We then spent the next few days churning up the soil to make sure it all dried well. The result is amazing. I won't say that the smell is completely gone -- that may take another round -- but it's at least 80% better. The ratio of mix to water is so minimal that we have LOTS left and will repeat this process to fully get rid of the smell. Since 3 dogs still use the area, it will take some experimenting to see how often we need to spray the surface to maintain minimal aroma. Very pleased!!

I bought a small package of the scented and larger of the unscented. I have purchased odorban in the past, 5 gallon bucket size. Am pleased with the convenience of the powder for storage and it has worked as expected. We have 8 dogs, I use this on their bedding, our flooring and will use it on the carpet. These guys and gals are inside/outside dogs so they bring their doggie odors inside.

As long as your mixture reaches the offending odor, and is left to do its work, and then dries completely, it is as if there was never ever even the hint of an odor there. You have to make sure to follow directions, make sure the solution touches ALL of the organic matter, and that afterward it dries completely. If you do that, it works extremely well.
