    Nail Trimming is an important part of your dog's grooming. Most dogs dislike nail trimming because their paws are so sensitive. If the nails are not cut, problems can arise. On average, nail trimming once a month is usually sufficient. However, you must consider your pet's daily activities and wear on the nails.

    If your pet's nails are extremely long, trim just a little off and wait a week to trim the nails again. This will allow the blood vessels to retreat back into the nail. Repeat this procedure once a week until you have reached the desired length.

    Great pair of clippers!

    It bugs me having to pay to have my dog's nails clipped. I also dreaded doing it myself. I realized the pair I'd purchased years ago (for another dog) at a local pet store were pretty rinky dink. I'm glad I asked a buddy of mine what he uses. He sent me a picture of his and suggested GDS. They aren't identical to his, but very close. My dog is between 60 and 70 pounds. These work great and are not too big.
    Pros
    • These are bigger, sharper, and sturdier than what I had and do a really excellent job. These cut off a nice piece of nail cleanly and crisply and there's no real struggle from my dog. Which makes the clean up a breeze. One of the things I was pleasantly surprised to realize is the edges of the nail after it's cut are not sharp at all. I've clipped nails before where afterward, I really didn't want my dog putting his paw on my hands or forearms even while playing as they could really scratch and tear.
    Cons
    • I find the safety a bit odd, but it works and I would rather cut too little than too much.
